Two and a Half Pimps 8 Simple Rules of F*cking my Teenage Hoe Desperate Rappers Dogg & Druggz: Possesion With Intent Parks & Recreational Druggz My Weed and Kids
Really? I would understand complaining about Stereogum for covering Coldplay but complaining about Coldplay and the song its self. This song is no where near as insufferable and some of the purely disgusting dreck out there. Just be glad Stereogum didn't cover that new Maroon 5 song and leave it at that.
Unless you're counting them as a 2010 band, Holy Ghost! really should have been on that list.
I didn't even have to watch the Broken Bells video it was so blatant.
Sounds too much like the original just with bad vocals. If Wilie Nelson is gonna cover a song I would expect it to sound a little more Folk or Country like. That way his vocals harmonize with the music more and the song sounds better.
This is what I like to call beginners music. Its not necessarily bad but just very simple. Most people, like myself, move on to other more complex bands as their music tastes mature. You can only listen to Coldplay so many times before all of their songs start to sound exactly the same.
Almost forgot The Manitoba Wilderness - When You Left The Fire. Another great album that has also gotten little attention.
Why has no one mentioned Loch Lomond - Little Me Will Start A Storm. That has to be the best album of the year hands down. Crystal Stilts - In Love With Oblivion is not mentioned either and its its also in my top 5. Others like Holy Ghost! - Holy Ghost!, Alexander - Alexander, and Daniel Knox - Everyman For Himself deserve at least an honorable mention. I'm afraid I'm also gonna chime in and say how overrated James Blake is. While he's a great producer his songwriting is terrible. His two singles are covers (yeah "Wilhelm Scream" is a cover of an obscure 80's song). It also doesn't make since why they would include a bad album like King of Limbs and leave out Discoverer which is loads better. lastly I have to admit that I too am a fan of "Yonkers" and "Sandwiches" but the rest of Goblin was compete dreck. I mean look beyond the overly hyped albums. If you honestly think they're better than fine, but don't just put stuff on the list because you're "supposed to".
Generic rapping to bland music that doesn't even qualify as beats. Seriously I don't know why Stereogum even bothers.
I can't believe Gnarls Barkley - Who's Gonna Save My Soul or Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice didn't make the list. Those are both in my Top 5.
Bonoroo definitely had the best lineup this year.
I seriously disagree with all the love for this song. As a huge MMJ fan I so desperately wanted to like this song but it just lacks that raw passion/emotion that most other MMJ songs have. Its as if they don't really get into the song until its halfway over. I guess my main problem is that the intro and outro are too minimalistic for their jam band sensibilities. If anything you hear them breaking form. Hopefully the album is a lot better.
I think the House of Pain, De La Soul, or Lupe Fiasco (not the dunks) ones look the best. As the article said most of them are completely horrible.
Ashcroft shows spots of genius but his technical ability really limits what he can do in his solo career. Fourth was pretty good, too bad the band couldn't stay together.
What is everyone talking about? This lineup is way better than Coachella. Buffalo Springfield My Morning Jacket Ray LaMontagne Junip Beirut DeVotchKa The Walkmen I mean this is just hands down the best festival so far.
Really, where is The New Pornographers - Moves video.
I agree. This year is gonna be bad. The Black Eyed Peas are one of the worst groups ever. As long as they don't sing "I Gotta Feeling" I think I'll be able to survive it though.
No I guess I was thinking of Aaron Neville. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WsXtCPE7Ww
Why does he sound like Luther Van Dross on this song? I don't much care for it.
Why don't you highlight an album in your next article. You could do Josh Ritter - So Runs The World Away or Junip - Fields. Both were very underrated. I have them ranked at number 1 and 2 on my year end list. Well whatever you decide to revisit next I think (for the articles sake) people would really like to hear a more positive review.
Even if the bands I mentioned didn't make the list the point still stands that I'm shocked that Taylor Swift is on the list let alone at number 26.
The problem with festivals like these is that all the good artists are spread out over three days and a lot of bands are better than the headliners. Seriously this festival could be condensed into 1 day.
This list holds absolutely no value for me. Taylor Swift is at 26 while great bands/artists like Josh Ritter, Junip, Avi Buffalo, Tunng, Matt Costa, Broken Bells, and The New Pornographers don't make the list. WTF is this sh*t. Don't even get me started on another list putting Kanye first.
