I liked the odd song here or there too, but the albums were puzzlingly abysmal. Born in the U.K. was the worst of the lot but 1+1 is 1 was awful too. I thought It's What I'm Thinking was a mild comeback but some of his worst tendencies were still there. I'm still holding out for a mid-life album that he knocks out of the park.
Two of the songs on his Being Flynn soundtrack (Let It Rain, I’ll Keep The Things You Throw Away) are up there with Bewilderbeast, and his soundtrack to Is There Nothing We Could Do? is also surprisingly good. You should check them out.
Ah yes, the owl, well known symbol of love. Rumor has it when they’re sitting up in the rafters like that they’re wishing you a lifetime of love, and not looking for family of mice to slaughter.

Whoa. So the game I’ve been playing lately is named after a Barenaked Ladies song? #themoreyouknow
Great write up. I’m glad not everyone takes their time to shit on these guys. The last couple (five?) albums certainly haven’t been up to their best stuff, but it’s still good music and great to hear live. Seeing these guys 3 times in Ireland this November and I’m pretty excited.
Same here, left ear for almost 30 years now. I have the 15 and the 25 dB filters. 15 for the movies, 25 for concerts. For MBV I’d probably just listen from down the street.
