Sad. I first saw these guys at Electric Picnic Ireland in 2012, though I didn’t know who they were at the time. I just remembered all these amazing bass and guitar lines, got home, looked up the acts and stumbled my way onto Smother, which is such a perfect album. Acquainted myself with their back catalog and have followed them ever since. So sorry they’re gone.

I live in Santa Barbara and had to evacuate because of the Thomas Fire. Bought SOE the day this damn fire started and have pretty much had it on repeat since. Maybe the situation has added an extra layer of depth to the music for me, but I’m finding it a pretty special album. It might not be groundbreaking but for a band this far into their career it’s pretty damn solid. I doubt I’ll ever be able to listen to it and not think of this scary, uncertain time.
