Yeah, it's been a bit underwhelming, but maybe they're saving the big names for the end. The MySpace rollout they're doing would've been better if it wasn't so anti-climactic (wait five minutes, then find out its some band that you've never heard of)
For some reason the guy who looks like John Lennon is making me laugh every time he comes on screen
The whole Jay not having animosity towards Conan is such bullshit. Oh yeah, I just stole your job, but I don't resent you for what I did to you. I remember he came out on his show a couple of weeks ago and said, "Don't blame Conan" to which Letterman responded saying, "No one is blaming Conan." Leno's got his head so far up his ass. Also, does anyone else find it disingenuous that he has been trashing NBC all month despite standing to benefit from their mistakes? If he was genuinely upset with them back in 2004, he should've left for a different network or maybe he should've left for a different network this time around, though maybe all the other networks were smart enough not to hire a hack like him. All of his responses attempting to say the right things just make him look desperate.
I feel like people are making too big of a deal about Chris Matthews. Dumb thing to say, but his statement is getting a little overblown. What he was trying to say (which I deduced before he had to retract his statement and explain it) was that Obama has transcended racial lines and people respect and revere him regardless of his race. Is simply acknowledging the presence of race or ethnicity inherently racist? I don't mean to sound like a Chris Matthews apologist, but sometimes people tend to blow things out of proportion

Yeah, not by a long shot is LA better than NY. Though they probably picked LA because they might've been in LA with Nigel at the time and also since they have so many celebrity fans, maybe they figured LA would be a good place to maximize their donations
Does that mean Sandra Bullock has to practice acting more often in her personal/private life because she's a philanderer?
Seriously. I watched a couple episodes of Glee and it is so not funny. I don't know why people like it so much
Jay Leno must have incriminating photos of the network head at NBC. Or he's just unbelievably stupid. "Hey, the Jay Leno Show in the prime time slot has been killing our ratings which then kills the ratings of the local networks because of the weak lead-in, then it kills the Tonight Show ratings. Maybe we should move him and piss off everybody else in our lineup to make things better." It's like amputating the right leg because the left leg got gangrene.

Mad Deja Vu when Pitchfork rolls out their Top 3. Not really a criticism, all three were among my favorites of the year. I voted Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent, and Dirty Projectors because I knew everyone was going to vote Animal Collective, though it seems everyone voted for Grizzly Bear and the Dirty Projectors too.
I hadn't read anybody else's thoughts about the scene, but when I saw the movie I immediately thought of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (and I'm glad someone else did as evident by Ted Leo). It reminded me of the opening scene in TGtBatU when Angel Eyes goes to the guy's house, sits down at the table eats his stew, and has a conversation with him before finding out about the money and eventually killing him.
Yeah, as a Wes Anderson fan, I don't see why it being a very stylistically Wes Anderson movie is a bad thing. When I was telling my friends to see it, I told them that it was unmistakably a Wes Anderson movie as a positive thing rather than a negative thing (granted, he's a fan of Wes' movies as well). Overall, I thought it was a really enjoyable movie to watch and it's one of the few movies I've seen that I would willingly pay money to see again. Also my sarcasm radar is officially broken. Is this review of the movie supposed tongue in cheek at all? I really can't tell on Videogum anymore.
Joanna Newsom's boyfriend is Andy Samberg? That's seems like a strange match. Also if Joanna Newsom releases a new album next year, 2010 is going to make me lose my shit
I'm on board the Tune Yards bandwagon. They blew my mind in Montreal and won over the whole crowd
Never Forget 09/11
This was pretty cool. It's interesting to see the solo(ish) arrangements compared to the full band ones. Also RIP Ed's twitter.

She looks hot (and I'm 20 so she's not too young for me), but when I google image searched her, I felt icky because it looks like she used to be a teen/pre-teen star.
Don't get me wrong, I usually try to sympathize with Betty, but tonight after seeing her going to the divorce lawyer with Henry Francis, I lost a lot of the capacity to do that. If she was upset with Don for being a bad husband, fine. I thought she was right to kick Don out back in Season 2 (even though ultimately I was rooting for them to get back together), but the whole Henry Francis business really turned me off from her character. Like it's been mentioned many times, she hardly knows the guy and she expects him to be her knight in shining armor to save her from the monotony of being a housewife. And she's willing to break the family structure for that. Not to say that if she's unhappy with her marriage, she should sacrifice herself for the sanctity of that bond, but she's doing it for some douche who came on to a married woman. How does she know he's more honest than Don? Don lied to her for so long, but does she really know Henry Francis better than she knows Don? And now after a handful of encounters and an unrealized affair, she wants to marry him? The scene with the family in the living room was heartbreaking (as I said) because they kept asking Don why he was leaving them as if Don wanted to leave them, but Don was asked to leave and Betty initiated the divorce. Don hasn't been the exemplary husband, but in that situation, I did feel like Don was accepting the role as the bad guy for his kids and for Betty. Though Sally did seem to see through it (accusing Betty of making Don do it) and I agree that she'll probably have a tense relationship with Betty from here on out (maybe leading her to rebel at the end of the 60s? Kind of weird to think about since she's like 12 years old now...)
Yeah, I hated Betty so much in this episode and that scene was heartbreaking because it, for the most part, is Betty's fault, yet the way things played out, Don was being villainized by the kids for leaving them. Don is a much better parent and everyone knows it. Also I agree with the Mad Men not taking the easy way out by making the sale of the company a metaphor for his failed marriage. The way they did it, it was sad and triumphant at the same time and that tension/mix of emotions is what I really liked about this episode. Best episode of Mad Men ever? Definitely Top 3 at the very least.
