I did indeed listen to "Desert," yes! I don't think it's really controversial though? Very obviously a point-of-view song, which Jesse has done before. Mostly as a yung queer just happy to hear the line "boys kissing boys" in a Brand New song. :)
Hey! Yes... It was originally taken by Thobias Fäldt for Vice and apparently they are both wearing "a specially designed fabric that turns stiff in response to impact." I'm not exactly sure how that works, but I would assume they are both alive?
I think you're maybe doing this just to get a rise out of people, but I'm actually legitimately curious how you can be excited by a band like TWIABP (judging by your recent comments) when they are basically just doing things that Brand New did a decade ago? With arguably even cornier lyrics... (And this is coming from a fan!!)
This is very true! Though all of them have been reissued in the past couple years and are pretty widely available at this point. I'd assume that this "very limited" run is just an early-bird special sort of thing and there will be a more general release down the line. If it's one thing Brand New knows how to do, it's make a ton of money off their fans :P
Really? Anecdotal evidence, obviously, but out of all the artists I've interviewed in the past couple years, I'd say there's about a 50/50 chance of Tegan And Sara coming up when I ask them about their influences.
I don't know... Different people have different canons. Don't really care for any of the albums you listed and none were ever very important to me. Feel about as indifferent to them as I'd imagine you do about something like The Con. But, then again, music is never as straight or as male as the "big" and popular artists of any given decade suggest.
