I would also follow Bear In Heaven to the ends of of the earth.
Reminds me of a mix between Stress and DVNO from their last album. If this is the "lead single"...I'm nervous.
Objection! By the rate at which he's pushing out tracks, it will probably be released next year!
It's actually pretty good. I'd say more, but I'm distracted by the fact that an advertisement for a Disney movie is on the sidebar.Stereogum is basically white males in their 20s and 30s. Not exactly their target audience, is it?
A departure from the regular Florence sound, is it not? I'm cautiously optomistic about this new album...
I don't think the golden toilet has made an appearance yet this week...
"It is Feisty." I see what you did there, Stereogum.
Mylo Xyloto...my first thought after hearing the name and seeing the cover was, "U2?"
The opening riff from about 0:08 to 0:25 sounds like another song, I can't put my finger on which one it is
Looks kind of like something a YouTuber would create on Windows Movie Maker...but oddly, it's awesome!
Saw Eminem at Kanrocksas the same weekend as Lollapalooza...love the guy, but it wasn't his best performance.
The guy on the thumbnail screaming at his laptop looks creepily like my cousin...
I like it. See you this Saturday at Kanrocksas, Bethany!
A few months ago I said that I'd "definitely" buy the Achtung Baby reissue. But, hey, it's just too expensive. But then again, I'd be saving about $200 than if I bought Bjork's deluxe set, wouldn't I? :)
It's better than the music video for Crazy For You, at least! I'll take strange editing, street fights, and 50's-60's esque costumes over LOLcats anyday.
He's definitely a much better dancer than I am...
I cast my vote for "Shut Up, Dude". Someone said this last week, but I just feel like echoing him: I hope this doesn't lead to a YouTube-like mentality.
I like it about a million times better than the actual version. Sorry, Coldplay.
It's a very nice song with deep lyrics. It's almost eerie how many famous musicians have died at 27...
I see your point, but it kind of aggravates me to see people say things like, "She deserved it because she (allegedly) had a drug problem." I just feel like everyone has emotional problems. I mean, if those people who said she deserved it passed away, they most likely wouldn't want people saying about them, "They had a few tough times, so they should've died anyways." I suppose it's easy to say things about someone you've never met, because there's no consequences. I hope that doesn't sound like I'm contradicting myself.
What a great musician. I still admire her voice and musical style. No matter what you think about her personally, death is a sad thing. I agree with Mayer Hawthorne on this. At least she'll be able to rest.
Here's another one of my increasingly idiotic ideas....The Best and Worst of Stereo-Typing!
My uncle is seeing them live this week...not fair.
This motivates me to write better comments...call this Stereo Motivation!
A nice REMINDER that Feist is here and still making music, yes? ;)
I think Nicki will sweep the categories that she's in, Foster The People for Best New Artist, Black Keys for Best Rock Video, Judas for Best Choreography, Power for SFX, and I could go on and on, but it's not like anyone cares what I think anyway :)
Wow, Diplo. You may have opinions, but that doesn't mean you need to share them in such a forward way.
As much as I love Metronomy, I do believe that they're going to choose James Blake.
Saturday was way better than Friday. And I agree, Gang Gang Dance was the best of the afternoon, nay, the day. They had "a full-time incense guy", to quote someone tweeting about the show. Lizzi looked great. Did anyone happen to see a male fan crowdsurf shortly after "incense guy" and he wound up being dropped on his head? Kind of made me laugh. Also, Woods was great, and Zola Jesus was amazing. Fleet Foxes was a great way to end the day. Loved the dedication to "Meggie" and when someone asked for a story, they responded with something to the extent of, "We like to think that all of our songs are stories, so you'll just have to download the Fleet Foxes album!" Made me smile.
I wasn't at the festival (I had a prior commitment) but fortunately I got to see most of it streaming online. tUnE-yArDs was amazing, as was GBV. Animal Collective's performance didn't do much for me, but that's not suprising considering I'm not that much of a fan. I agree, watching Gatekeeper perform was a bit boring, but the music the spinned was amazing. I wish I could've seen the smoke and lights. Meanwhile, me and my friends kept busy by watching the crowd and counting how many times we saw crowdsurfing or a fight break out. And I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but Saturday of the festival was GREAT.
I don't exactly think this is in bad taste. At the end of the day, the song is good but it was still an odd choice to use this event for their music video
Oh, The White Stripes. How I'm going to miss them. At least we still have The Dead Weather...
I would completely say Austra, but when you bring Braids and Galaxie into this you're making my decision difficult. I'll split my money 3 ways, sir.
Hey, hey, hey! If you want to add so many, why not make your own list? :) Was happy to see Robyn, Coldplay, The Replacements, Ratatat, the xx, Muse (Knights Of Cydonia music video is just like them-over the top, ridiculous, but somehow loveable), and yes, even Telephone. Overall, I'm impressed that they remembered all these music videos! So many of them are great.
Makes me wanna dance! I'm liking this more than Dark Rift.
Thank God she stayed in a nice range instead of that awful WAAAHHHH-OOOOHHHH thing she normally does. Was expecting to be able to rip her from end to end for doing a terrible cover, but it's actually alright.
I'm calling it now. I'm going to bet that Helix is the best song on the album
Thanks for getting with the program, guys! :P I pretty much agree with your list, but I think Liturgy should have ranked higher!
The Foster The People song is nice...but I would have preferred it if Cults had won.
