Kim Gordon still the all time best
i'm glad they're taking that "sonic shoulder to cry on" thing seriously
I've argued for years that Minnie Riperton has the best voice in music and it isn't close. This is a hill I am willing to die on.
she shoulda gone to jamila's hogwarts
i come here everyday, but i came here today to make sure the simpsons reference was the bonus beat
For me, Mina Tindle soundtracked a star-crossed + doomed-from-the-beginning college romance. I actively try to forget how things were wrong from the start and try to force reconsiderations of what could have made it work. Along with those years I've eternal-sunshine'd went my recollection of loving Mina's debut album. I listened to that album on repeat back in the day yet I now that I couldn't bring myself to listen to it without . Nearly a decade has passed. Seeing her onstage performing, what i believe, to be the best track on this album brought back too many emotions for this Tuesday morning. I'm not sure if it was the chemistry between her and Matt, or the force of the backing choir but damnit if i didn't get a little choked up to start, the the waterworks came. "It's the way you say yes when I ask you to marry me You don't know what you are doing Do you think you can carry me Over the threshold Over and over again until oblivion?" dammit if this wasn't where we were headed if circumstances were different. Maybe seeing her today, on that stage, marks the end of a chapter that will help me past the what-could-have-beens. Maybe i can revisit that debut album. Maybe its time to accept it was never going to work and this is what I have as a memory
As an aside: Gadson has, on more than one occasion, sat in on a few studio recordings with extra-white funk band/rhythm section Vulfpeck
It's Michiganders, my dude
Ho ho! Happy birthday to me!
well they just answered the question "how do you make the best band in the world even better?"
Laura Nyro's "Eli & The Thirteenth Confession" is the album I test any new headphone or stereo set up on. It is a masterclass in bouyant and jubilantly orchestrated pop tunes. I stan that album and Laura Nyro, no question
No Natalie Prass? List in invalid
i thought you meant "axe" as in a badass name for a guitar which makes more sense but i went to the site and holy smokes it is a $500 wood-choppin' axe. wth wilco
Would also like to shout out Paramore doing "Passionfruit" at the live lounge last year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqoj_3r9oqg
You are also welcome to drunkenly shout "Jude Law" as a replacement lyric for the title words as my friends and I have done since 2013
How is boygenius not 3 of the top 5 ?
Lakeith Stanfield is a national treasure
I've said it before and I'll say it again. God bless an EP
aw Gladys girl i love you, but oh! Get a life!
Co-sign on Sannhet if anyone is looking for a gateway between post-rock and Deafheaven
Mad love for the Mastodon/Feist cover of each other's songs. Still spin it regularly
my body is ready for a parade of motown #1s.
Minnie Riperton is maybe the best pop vocalist of all time.
two number 5s? Seems appropriate when one of them is Post Malone
It's not hard to underrate how good 'Musas' is but somehow "best folk album of 2017" still doesn't do it justice. its criminal how little love she gets in the states
i hope this made millions of suburban moms deeply uncomfortable.
took me a minute to remember it was Halloween because dressing up like a Dragon Ball-Z character seems like something Thundercat would do on most Tuesdays
got some good bass clarinet action in there too
and damn she makes Detroit look good
Hell yeah! Anna is the coolest and am so excited she is getting her due! Also worth noting: she has been playing with ypsilanti fuzz-rockers minihorse for the last lil bit and that has been jsut delightful there too
At press time, the reissue had been cancelled and rescheduled for a date TBD
muppet love or no muppet love, you had me at "disco tits"
please stick around, Hanif
