If you're a big artist like a Adele or Bruno Mars, putting out your album just after the deadline is often a smart move, because it means you have a year a bunch of your singles to gain traction and seep into the public consciousness. Then there's a better chance that the old folks on the Grammy voting committee would have heard your songs in passing.

That festival must have been a complete shit show if R Kelly was the best thing at it.
I still hear too much of co-writer and producer Josh Ramsay in this song due to it's shared similarities with Marianas Trench songs that were being released around this same time, like "Haven't Had Enough" and "Desperate Measures" for me to fully take it seriously.
