I really don't like her fronting a band. Can't she go back to playing a guitar and piano?
Awesome! I hope it doesn't suck like when Spike brought back Ren & Stimpy.
This is an awful performance. I like the album a lot, but Ariel himself is totally obnoxious.

My favorite Joy Division cover by a long shot is Galaxie 500 doing Ceremony. Incredible. However for Love Will Tear Us Apart, Swans have two great versions.
I get Joanna Newsom. I love Joanna Newsom. I think she's the best female songwriter working today. Still, it took me numerous listens to get into Have One on Me. Yet when the album clicked, it clicked in a massive way. I understand that she's not for everyone, but the album really requires time and an attentive listen. You can't just listen once through your laptop speakers while multi-tasking on the internet. Eventually melodies stick, lines resonate, and the music becomes incredibly moving. Still, even if time proves her as something still to be understood, its near impossible not to appreciate her lyrics and musical talent. There's simply no one else out there right now writing at her level.
I wonder if this is the first case ever where a song had to be lengthened rather than shortened for a Late Night performance. In any case, this is amazing and I love the new solo section.
Some great ones here, but yikes is that Bridges & Balloons cover awful.
The original is one of my favorite Christmas tunes, but I'm not digging this cover. Actually, I've never liked a cover of this song.
I don't get the popularity of Here Comes The Sun. I think it's stupid. Then again I don't really like any of the songs in the top 8. From 9-15 though, it's great.
I love Cut, but man this video is certainly not how I want to remember the Slits. Auto-tune!? Jeez.
I give up - http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/9743/imgmarkzuckerberg2.jpg
Well that's obviously not how you post an image. This??

Going to see Weezer only to have My Chemical Romance sing My Name is Jonas sounds like a nightmare I've had.
Does anyone remember the incredibly short lived TGIF series "Aliens in the Family?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrMCLVA_xrA That.
So I'm one of those crazy obsessed Joanna Newsom fans who considers her my favorite artist of all time. But the funny thing is, the first time I heard Joanna I hated it. I had downloaded the Milk-Eyed Mender back in 2005 and after one offensive listen, let it rest on my hard drive for nearly a year. When I decided to give her a re-listen, I strangely found it slightly more listenable. With each of the initial listens, I wasn't completely into it, yet something that I couldn't pin down drew me back. Soon enough, her music "bloomed" for me and began to resonate with me in a way that no other artist ever did before. Even with "Have One on Me" her most accessible album yet, it wasn't until listen 6 or so that I was really into it. There's just something about her music that makes it take shape very gradually, and slowly reveal itself to you. Though unfortunately many will be impatient and write her music off, she's truly making albums for the long run. After dozens upon dozens of listens all three of her records are still incredibly fresh and compelling. Especially with so much disposable music these days, Joanna Newsom is one to be treasured.
This is a great version! Probably the only Neutral Milk Hotel cover that I've actually enjoyed. Remember that dreadful version of In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Matt Pond PA? This is proof that to cover Neutral Milk Hotel, you can't sing like a wuss.
I find it odd how good the video quality is, considering this is from 1995...and VHS.
That's such a douchey photo. Lame album art as well.
It sounds exactly like the Field Mice, but without the great melodies. Just like every song by this band.
Those synths in the chorus are totally (I Just) Died in Your Arms Tonight.
