I also, could not agree more. I wondered why everyone was so quick to throw this one up on their best of 2010 list. this review really could be summed up in a few words: boring, flat, emotionally immature, weirdly vacant, and overrated to boot. this one is hard to get through. 16 songs that trudge along, that don't build, that don't engage me at all.
i'm just tired of anticipating it already. anyone else? i loved person pitch of course, don't get me wrong. but it sure seems like someone is stringing the fans along with this album, be it artist or label.
As for Yeasayer, I miss their tribal/organic/world rhythms and sounds with actual, acoustic instruments as heard on cymbals. I really didn't care for their electronic/mechanical approach to the new record, save a few good songs at the head of the album. But all in all, the compressed, computer-heavy synths and sounds are hokey. They should go back to their old ways.
I like Spoon, but they're kind of overrated. Not a great festival band. They closed Pitchfork fest a few years ago and it was so lackluster. I was disappointed.
Let's sample original hits and rap over them like they're our own. This is Kanye's definition of creativity and originality. He plays the same cards every time. And his head is bigger than the mushroom cloud over Hiroshima. Can't think of a more self-important voice in hip-hop today.
