I understand if you're trying to have at least a song from each project but Famous should not be on this list. Boys over Girls Night Out? Yikes. Also, Anthems is produced by Dylan Brady and Danny L Harle, not umru.
Not a super active commenter anymore but have been regularly reading and following the site since 2010. I've found a lot of great music here, definitely supporting for the comp! Which also reminds me, those tribute albums you guys did way back were so good, especially the strokes one.
There’s actually no other way to describe Isaac brocks guitar playing than simply genius and is maybe the most interesting and unique sound in indie rock. I am more of a LCW guy but this album follows close after. I really wish Isaac would take a risk and work with a really out there producer but those two albums are so significant he really doesn’t owe us anything more. At the very least I am glad he seems to be in a lighter place than he was when he was younger even if the music suffered as a result.
I keep thinking of that when people talk about the 10 they gave fiona apple, pfork is far from the be all end all. Vroom Vroom is proof, the fucking byline on it is "Vroom Vroom EP is pointedly uncommercial and abrasive." as if that's a bad thing? Jesus.
I really like the song but wish the hook wasn't just dancing with myself, the rest of the song is great. Idk why but its a bit off putting. Also lol I didn't realize Ricky R was producing the record.
Is this based on something particular? I really enjoy his instagram presence but I do get the impression he’s kinda done with it. Or at least for a while. He seems content to live the LA life and travel.
Haxan Cloak is a huge omission, what an amazing piece. I suppose this also means opn is snubbed as well, or is it not in contention for this year? My vote is for the Us soundtrack of those that are shortlisted, it was amazing, and the way they used I Got 5 on It was perfect.
easily the best single she's put out since the album, fucking money man and yo x ti were mediocre though and con altura was just ok. imo she's best when she goes more experimental.
someone like denzel curry can, but he treats it as an almost athletic event, he doesn't drink or party (from what I remember) anywhere near when he's performing. not every artist is like him though.
That kid was fucking annoying in the video and it still baffles me to this day why he threw his own headphones at someone as an attack and then had the audacity to ask them to replace them. What I don’t get though, is why rocky and his team didn’t just get in a car and leave if they were following him and round. Like why opt to beat the shit out of him 3 on 1 instead of calling a Fucking Uber and driving like a few blocks. So stupid. I hope the conditions aren’t as bad as have been reported but man, why would you do that?
Sidenote to this whole conversation: most jazz drummers play very small kits. The excessive one's you're thinking of are almost exclusively rock, prog, etc. (i.e. Neil Peart), jazz kits are often just snare, hats, rack tom, floor tom, kick, crash and ride.
It's a fun song but even though I do enjoy it I hope it's more of a one off than a sign of whats to come, El Mal Querer is my favourite album of 2018, (and 2019 so far) I hope she keeps the experimental and forward thinking approach.
I suppose the same could be said for Paco de Lucia who is quite possibly the most famous flamenco artist (definitely guitarist) of all time, also not Roma.
