And Offspring is back on tour. Orange County, bitches! Let's see some Gavin Rossdale news.
They even dressed up like young people. So cute! Aren't they cute?
I think I'll be asking for a refund. The charm of ATP, to me, was the feeling of taking over a resort, like a great out-of-town wedding, with all your friends and favorite bands playing. You could easily duck out of the shows, smoke a joint, take a nap and watch baseball in your room and then jump back into the action. Manhattan won't provide that vibe. I can't see myself in a $350 per night hotel room at 3AM and thinking, "I'll stroll over to the pier now to watch some films".
Shepherd Fairey, what a talent! His originality remains supreme. He apparently had the leeway to change the band name to the 5-Tones. That's highly original and the bass player (not pictured) probably appreciates the reference.
Just wait until Mr. Corgan discovers Chuck Closterman! His bald head will explode with the knowledge that someone understands him: Poison is > than The Velvet Underground. They influenced more people and with less hipster pomposity. How dare these hipster people flaunt their good taste!
Stereolab worked with the same merchandise company as The White Stripes. I still have my Stereolab beach towel from Lollapalooza and a Stereolab washcloth from a later tour. Bitch please, that is some functional merchandise!
Is he wearing a leather undershirt? That's tight, yo!
I'll buy my old lady some high waisted shorts next time I'm stocking up on beer pong supplies.
Poor Frances. Her mother will go to the ends of the earth to humiliate her. I'd heard that Dave Grohl arranged to meet with Frances because he hadn't seen her since she was a baby and because they both realize they will be business partners and eventually their children will be business partners. Courtney is not a part of that equation now that Frances is 18 and free of her. Nirvana is free of her. Courtney is a scary cock-roach and Grohl should sue her and hit her where it hurts: her drug purse.
They'd get way more press if they defended Skrillex!
Oh, so the blowjob on the TV screen isn't being performed on a caveman schlong? Is that what you're saying?
Apple locked me out of my iTunes account due to a security issue that was never explained to me. It was 2.5 weeks before they gave me back my account. They seem to be really serious about security over convenience.
If you have 1TB of music, it doesn't upload 1TB. It recognizes the track in your collection and gives you the right to download Apple's 256 Kpbs track. Adding the streaming function will happen because it's easy. The question I have is once I add a track that does not already exist in the Apple reference tracks, like say Moby being electrocuted, does it upload my copy and make that the reference for others?
Early 1990's Sonic Youth Vans auctioned for charity two weeks ago: http://mechasauruses.blogspot.com/2011/03/vans-sonic-youth-dirty-bunniescharity.html
Moby is probably receiving an email photo of his toothbrush sticking out of Robbie's ass, right about ..now.
I agree with him wholeheartedly. I've noticed that too many of his fans think they are entitled to products that are guaranteed to be worth more than the purchase price, immediately. The White Stripes poster collectors are a great example of this. They post items on eBay before they receive the item themselves. That has nothing to do with affection for the product, just a feeling of entitlement to the profit, which Jack is arguing should go to the artists, not the collector.
Booooooooo. How am I supposed to get my mobility scooter over that polo field?
I did do my research. As I correctly stated, there is a story about him in Sarah Silverman's book. That is a fact. I don't care about his side of the story; he's the former singer for that shitty band, Journey.
There's a story about him in the Sarah Silverman book. He tells her how much he enjoyed her show and that she tells really good nigger jokes. She tries to tell him that the jokes are about racists and that he's missing the point. But he repeats that she tells good nigger jokes.
Why omit Andrew Dice Clay from the options?
He mostly seems to be faulting them for setting a bad example. Sonic Youth was the first indie to get "Full Artistic Control" from a major and were working in territory that was pretty unmapped. They should have stayed with Homestead to be ripped off? Stayed with SST and continue to be ripped off? His criticism seems misguided. They can be criticized for having more mainstream ambitions due to their fascinations with popular culture and a Warholian desire to co-opt that culture, but their business with DGC had very little to do with that. And yes, Albini has the luxury of receiving checks with one hand while bashing labels with the other. That financial security provides a stable perch for high standards - that and being paid to perform at every ATP event in the world.
A glass! That is so proper. In the States, a bouncer would never let you carry a glass of piss.
I wish I was more excited abou this album. I think the New York Times Magazine article about Stuart Murdoch kinda took the shine off B&S, for me.
Yes! I'll be making the drive for this. And I'll be making the trip to see Panda Bear and Broken Social Scene Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, NC early next month. http://hopscotchmusicfest.com/
Sometimes 1+1+1+1+1+ = < 2 of those ones in another configuration.
I was convinced this was Tina Yothers until she started talking about people sucking her zygote. That strain of brain salad is all Courtney.
Hotel owners are already reporting losses and if smaller bands boycott, maybe larger bands, like U2 will feel the pressure to boycott (they do not have an upcoming show - this is just an example). I'm sure that some people think that Bono waving a white flag and getting emotional onstage would have an impact, but I saw R.E.M. during the Bush/Gore election and the audience had no problem booing the political speech and then playing air guitar to the hits. It was money and corporate pressure that brought the MLK holiday to AZ. "Boycott Sun City" was a slogan to encourage artists to boycott performances in South Africa, and it did bring attention and economic pressure. Fucked Up should play there for free, achieves his goals of evangelizing to the population but it remains lost economic opportunity in the local marketplace.
It was a tourist boycott that pressured Arizona into honoring the MLK holiday. So, Mr. Casper, maybe you are the tard. Maybe Public Enemy helped a little with By The Time I Get To Arizona I'm countin' down to the day deservin' Fittin' for a king I'm waitin' for the time when I can Get to Arizona 'Cause my money's spent on The goddamn rent Neither party is mine not the Jackass or the elephant 20.000 nig niggy nigas in the corner Of the cell block but they come From California Population none in the desert and sun Wit' a gun cracker Runnin' things under his thumb Starin' hard at the postcards Isn't it odd and unique? Seein' people smile wild in the heat 120 degree 'Cause I wanna be free What's a smilin' fact When the whole state's racist Why want a holiday F--k it 'cause I wanna
This list reminds me of buying Spin 25 years ago. I think I'll buy another copy so that I can disagree with them and feel as though we're having an important conversation. Like commenting on a blog.
"It all seems low considering Love’s heartfelt apology" I NEVER thought I'd be defending Billy Corgan but this woman is a horror show and I won't understand how Stereogum feeds into her hype machine bullshit. You might as well be this guy: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Srbr7Wvfnes/SWeOeFg781I/AAAAAAAAF_k/JZrqef3jIXg/s320/1935939_47.jpg Billy's biggest fault is that he's about 15 years too late in realizing the extent of her destructive energy. Her recent New York Times article allowed her to explain away decades of abusive behavior, and child neglect, as "method acting". Although she says she wishes she never saw Kurt's money because it is "cursed", that won't stop her from trying to cheat Francis Bean out of more of it. Courtney spent a true fortune on drugs and songwriting and production teams to compensate for her lack of talent and now she is broke. Francis only has a few more months before she turns 18, so let's see if Courtney makes her move.
