I just read the review the album and saw your original comment about this with the same gif. I like that you went from gentle questioning ("LOVING the album. However, the opening scene from the short is straight outta Fleabag...right?") to just accusing them of ripping it off. All in a 3 minute time span!
The most shockingly out of touch part of this whole thing is how early she's announcing the release date. Taylor, look to Beyoncé. You may not have the swagger but get some confidence.
Ever since Reputation kind of fizzled in terms of public opinion I've been waiting to see what her re-brand would look like. I wasn't expecting this. Though it makes sense. I was kind of thinking she would pull a Miley and go back to her roots a little more. But the ultra self positive vibe makes sense post Reputation.
DOOM is one of the first rappers I ever got into. I think he's really accessible, which makes it strange that so few other people can quite match what he does.
How can this be "A Childish Gambino Film" if Hiro Murai is directing? I guess it's just for marketing purposes. Hiro Murai clearly isn't some journeyman director for hire.
Couldn't agree more. I looked into any possible rumors that may have surfaced in the last few months but couldn't find anything. There's no album roll out I love more than Radiohead. Here's to hoping they pull an In Rainbows/The King of Limbs and just surprise announce it like a week before it comes out.
I wonder if Robin Pecknold will open for her at any of these shows like he did before Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up came out. He tested a lot of the material for both those albums during those opening gigs. Granted, this seems like different kind of tour. She may not even have an opener, Lord knows she doesn't need one.
Also, the trailer for Where The Wild Things Are used Wake Up and that came out about a year after Vic's La Vida and reminded everyone of Wake Up all over again.
Don't forget that Coldplay used this approach on Viva La Vida, which was clearly inspired by Funeral, and that song was huge. I feel like it was definitely post Viva La Vida when it started getting used EVERYWHERE.
I just don't understand how his schtick appeals to anybody. I like some of his songs but everything else is so insufferable. I don't care if he's commenting on celebrity or just giving into his id or trying to be funny or ironic or if he's high or if he's depressed or if he's just full of himself, whatever it is I just can't get past how annoying it is.
