I think some of the better beat makers just make so many loops that they either lose track or are onto the next thing fast. Wouldn't surprise me that most have hard drives full of stuff they should revisit lol
Drowning in dope tunes
Slaps, but needs an epileptic seizure warning lol
Microsoft Flight Simulator in VR is the best 'gaming/computer' experience of my life if that helps sell it (I know you weren't probably serious, but I'm a VR nerd) I had a couple glasses of red wine one night and proceeded to fly under the Eiffel Tower in a biplane, first normally, then upside down lol, it was surreal.
The other guess would be their old tour mates Weezer
Not to sound lame, because I can be at times, but I have a Quest 2 and will probably check this out. Some of the sports/concerts I've watched in the past have actually been pretty fun if your headset is comfortable.
I think Butterflysoup above nailed it best. There's a certain arrested development that takes place in most adults around the time they turn 20 or so. Formative years they say? lol, but yeah, it's always been fascinating to me watching my old friends share STP and Alice in Chains videos like they came out yesterday, fawning as if these were the golden gods of all that is/was music. Not to take away from the ones I mentioned, but damn there's so much out there. It's like those YouTube comments on old songs from these eras and there's ALWAYS one popular one near the top that says "Too bad they don't make music like this anymore" or "Rock is dead!" and those of us that never gave up on finding new music that moved us just roll our collective eyes.
Ah Clear Channel, there's a name I haven't hated on in a while.
I tried out the UFC gym for a month in Denver six years ago and can concur about the music selection there lol
All of my old friends but maybe two. Sigh.
Great article, but holy shit am I reminded of how happy I was to have broadened my horizons musically by 99-00. While some dudes at a bar somewhere were hearing Shinedown, I was thankfully swimming in Chemical Brothers, Radiohead, Boards of Canada, Autechre and a ton of other artists through those early aughts. Even the bars I frequented thankfully had solid jukebox options and weren't filled with those Saliva/Three Days Grace types.
Blossom is one of my all time favorite venues, and where I first caught them live with Bowie way back in in 95. This should be spectacular.
I’m over it. Let’s get back to loving Big Thief and talking about album releases
Let’s say for the sake of argument that they had a plan in place to pay artists eventually, even if true, their “plan” to make a bunch of money first and gain traction in the market, stake a claim etc was a piss poor idea. They should’ve taken any start up money and created a digital portfolio that they then patented and sold around to labels. But greed got the best of them.
I’m a Rogan fan and listener and I think he’s late to the party for apologizing for using that word in even the context he did. So no, I don’t have a problem with them removing episodes, warning labels etc. it’s Spotify’s platform. This annoys me really because many people are trying to label ALL Rogan listeners as Trump fed buffoons in order to enforce their arguments about how dangerous Rogan is. That argument makes no fucking sense in reality. Couple that with the thousands of comments online calling for Rogan to actually be silenced and fucked of the air entirely, which should scare people, but instead is getting hundreds of ‘likes’ in places like Facebook. So yeah, it should be moderately concerning that there are so many people in favor of censorship even when the topic at hand is about Spotify dealing with Rogan’s ignorance on their platform. Also, I disagree with Rogan constantly, but his show is pretty fucking entertaining when certain guests are on there. I can disagree with him on some core issues and still enjoy his show with throwing PC tantrums.
Glam rock and hair metal are almost the same things though. It’s like neo-soul and trip hop, separate, but almost entirely the same sounds incorporate the genres.
“Both sides are problematic” - Goes on to shit on Rogan who they never listen to just because…internet.
You certainly like to make up a lot of shit to enforce your points here. That’s sad.
Guy has been touring and is friends with AA’s for years, but he’s racist because he tried to use a word out of context? He’s stupid for shoehorning it into whatever discussions at the time, but context is everything regarding going so far as to label someone a “racist fuckface”
Thanks for shitting on me because I like to be entertained during my work drive lol. Geez
I did catch them a couple of times live in the early 00’s, and definitely a great show. But I never got into much of their album stuff after Yield, a few tracks here and there, but that was it for me.
They were amazing to hear in high school when Ten and versus came out. Yield has some good stuff, but I lost touch with them after I discovered 100 other bands around the time Napster came out lol.
I’m not surprised they removed most of these. But I remember the Maynard episodes and I don’t recall anything that bad? Does Spotify list why they took them down?
I swear IKEA instructions are a joke and the company has a good laugh about them often.
Pretty much nails it. Every town is now infected in some way with this dream of media success, YouTube/TikTock are just bringing that Hollywood sliminess to the masses.
I was at a resort a few weeks ago watching kids making a video for their YouTube around the pool, parents encouraging them while they annoy everyone within earshot with stupid questions. One example yes, but it doesn’t surprise me at all to see parents pushing their kids into this world when the normalizing of it now complete. They see lots of other people making money doing this shit so they say why not them? Personally, the thought of treating my kid like a product disgusts me.
I think many recognize it, ignore it, and condone it as the achieving American Dream by any means necessary.
Sounds like a great night!
Great songs this week, especially that new Kamasi. Here's a great jam from the PPC that no one should sleep on either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxfXbpXRdCQ
I'm not 100% convinced Kim wrote that response, but it's fairly sound, and I agree with her take on it. Kanye is all sorts of fucked up, so it's sad to see someone in great need of major therapy sound off the way he does either online or in person, and then have the drama get circulated into around-the-cooler talk.
Korver could drain 3's better than almost anyone I've ever seen do it. Also, this track bangs.
As a person who spent a good chunk of the last 20 years pirating, it's better to stream and at least contribute something to the artist than steal outright IMHO, which is the only real alternative given how easily one can do it.
I'm not sure if they're using it to dodge criticism as much as they're trying to tell you that as a comedian, looking to them for advice/news/enlightened statements isn't probably a good idea unless you like it with a side of crude (knuckle dragging at times) humor. We're talking about Stewart and Rogan, two people who are experts in very few focused things, so to come to these dudes for news or even confirmation of our biases just because they have a huge audience is just odd to me.
Depends. Sometimes he'll do actual prep and have some good questions ready, but an equal amount of times he lets them do the talking, good or bad. Sometimes you get some great nuggets, other times you find your eyes rolling like a slot machine.
