Scott, how many t-shirts do I have to buy to fund the development of a “mute” feature in the comment section?
Harsh but absolutely true.
Cardinal is the best album, but I’d argue that the Amperland, NY (aka Pinegrove the movie) soundtrack is a better place to start. Some great, subtle live reworks of some of their first songs and the new ones. I think they skipped over Cardinal entirely, but to be fair there’s already a live album from those tours (it’s called Elsewhere and it’s also great).
Sip ‘o wine, feelin’ fiiiine
That harmonica is heavy as fuck
I can’t speak good sry
One of the big themes of Kieron Gillen’s comic The Wicked + The Divine is about how the violence of the music celebrity culture has very real, and often fatal consequences. It’s a great read, and I hope the TV deal isn’t dead in the water so more people can experience it.
Right enough to be funny, but also so, so, so wrong.
If it inspires one person to buy a digital copy of CHRISTFUCKER on bandcamp today then my shame will have been worth it. https://twitter.com/portrayalof/status/1456656345390669825?s=21
Not lying I need to re read it before the baby comes but also I can’t. Too sad.
Side note, Sadness released ANOTHER ALBUM today and it’s amazing.
I bought a bunch of album on bandcamp today while telling myself it’s worth it for them high quality files (it is! Music sounds better on bandcamp than it does on Spotify!).
It’s bandcamp day my dudes. We can clown Adele and Tay Tay as much as they deserve, but it all means nothing if we don’t reverse this notion that digital music (and by extension CDs) is worthless.
It’s like the best horror movies; it’s so fucking terrifying that all I can do is gawk and laugh. It doesn’t forget to be fun, and it doesn’t sacrifice any heaviness to get there.
I couldn’t tell where she was going with this, based on the singles, but I had faith she would come through. The empty space left behind by turning down the distortion gives her room to show off how delicate her songwriting really is. And some of these acoustic licks and yacht rock riffs are just as filthy as anything on Lush, just in a different way. Great fucking record, I’m ashamed to say that I’m relieved.
On the contrary, “Good Ones” had me a lil worried, but listening to it after “New Shapes” helped me warm up to it. Both rock!
You need to wait 5 hours before you call the emergency room about something like that.

Not to mention emo, metal and hardcore (and their infinite subgenres) are all popping off. Guitars are the best.
Hyways was cool as shit. Great rec!
“you’re a fuckin’ baby, but your pain is valid too”
Great year if you like slow, gentle rock and roll.
You might like Spirit Was even more. Solo project from the bassist from the same band (LVL UP). Both are firmly in the “cosmic Americana” vein, Spirit Was flirt with doom and black metal a bit in their pursuit of widescreen road rock and roll. Trace Mountains stick with the gentler sounds of country (banjo, pedal steel, etc.), and their back catalog is even softer. All great stuff tho!
I agree! Trace Mountains, Sun June and Lightning Bug are also excellent albums in this vein.
It’s been 4 days so I think I can finally say it: I think Wild Pink out WoD’d the War on Drugs
Nothing says 30 like making a glib reference to your drinking problem in an effort to normalize or distract yourself from said drinking problem.

A lot of musicians dressing up as dead musicians
Ok, maybe it’s my account or something. Weird.
This but when my mom saw my (edited) Take off Your Pants and Jacket CD
Hol up… is anyone else not seeing “Dawning of the Season” on Spotify? It totally murders the sequencing to the point where I’ve been listening to it exclusively on bandcamp (not to mention it sounds noticeably better on bandcamp).
I was surprised at how something that filthy could be so… pretty 😚
