Jason Isbell looks like a baby who smokes a pack a day and his music sucks
Liberals who hate Elon Musk are the biggest losers in a big tent of dumb lefties. Miss Anthroprocene is a classic, Grimes shouldn’t have to hear anything from these ppl
Tell Me How You Really Feel was underrated af
Would love to know if anyone who works at stereogum has listened to even once. My bet would be no.
Strange to Explain is so great, sad that more people aren’t listening to Woods.
This is one of the more slept on albums of the past few years imo. Woods best album, every track is great.
Shore is the best album of the year. White, male, indie band makes another stunning album and grows their legend even further, obviously isn't critic bait. But Fetch the Bolt Cutters wishes it had a run of bangers like Sunblind through Quiet Air. Fiona or any other critic favorite just doesn't measure up to Robin and the boys, sorry haters.
Abysmal Thoughts is a classic, that I still listen to all the time.
Shore is underrated on all these year end lists, every song on it is exceptional. Fiona Apple could work her whole life and never have a run of bangers like Sunblind through Quiet Air/Giola.
Totally forgot that the Nap Eyes album was great
1. Fleet Foxes- Shore 2. Dogleg- Melee 3. And Shauf- The Neon Skyline 4. Grimes- Miss Anthro 5. Bully- Sugar Egg 6 Rolling Coastal Blackout Fever- STNI 7. Westerman- Your Hero is Not Dead 8. Woods- Strange to Explain 9. The Strokes- the New Abnormal 10. MMJ- the Waterfall 2 Could list ten more great albums that came out this year, amazing year for albums, that made the lack of live hurt a little less.
Getting all the indie musicians together to record a benefit album so I can continue to praise the shittiest music in the world.
I’m still listening to MADLO, can’t wait to hear Deadlines(Hostile) and There Must Be More than Blood live
Deceiver is still so underrated.
Shore is incredible, that’s all!
Anak Ko is excellent and was severely underrated and under covered by music press.
The Fresh Blood playlist from earlier this year was really great I thought, excited for this.
It’s hard for me to think of anyone who has released two classics in the same year at the level of UFOF and Two Hands, really unbelievable by Adrienne and the crew.
Hype for this, Helplessness Blues is probably my fav album of all time.
I’m loving this indie cover fest started by the stereogum comp, I’m assuming. I think indie artists would benefit a lot by covering more songs live, as it brings in a lot more casual music fans and showcases your skill as a musician. It’s hard to enjoy songs you haven’t heard before live, and as indie artists are smaller in general, at a festival setting or what have you, most haven’t heard their songs. I’ve always thought that having a deep catalog is a big advantage that indie has over other genres, and the artists should showcase it by playing each other more. Also,re: Realiti(demo)>(album cut) and it’s not close.
The songwriting, for me, is just not really there on Ode to Joy, even the okay songs sound very slight to me. I just don't really like the sound of the entire album, the drums make the entire album sound disjointed. I'd be very surprised if you hear Wilco play many of those songs live in the upcoming years.
Ode to Joy was just not very good, but Warm was the best thing Tweedy has done since Sky Blue Sky, so hopeful for this.
Hope Bully gets a better push on this album, Losing was criminally underrated and most likely under promoted. Always excited about new Cut Copy as well, being as that they are probably the most underrated band of all time and Haiku From Zero was a masterpiece.
Imperoli also talked about hanging out with Keith Richards and what a dick Mick Jagger was on the podcast. He also said he was a “basically a groupie” for Galaxie 500 before he was cast on the Sopranos, fyi.
Man this makes me upset, really enjoyed the first season. All the characters were so great.
Lyrics are absolute trash but the song goes
Just want to be clear, being a poptimist probably means you enjoy big, obvious melodies and miss subtler more intricate ones.
City of Children has a great riff and great guitar work throughout, contrasted with other songs with more generic riffs like Suburban War. Also has a great melody with a great uplifting chorus with a bit of melancholy. Whole song feels easy going and epic at the same time which is tough to pull off. You probably just have a bad ear for melody.
People talk a lot of shit about Arcade Fire even though they are an incredible band that puts on a great live show everytime with an unimpeachable setlist. Everything Now wasn’t the greatest but Creature Comforts and Electric Blue still bang and they already have like 20 great songs to their name, more than about every classic rock band that people slob all over.
City with No Children is one of their best songs.
This is the worst piece of shit I’ve ever heard. It’s Justin Timberlake doing the Bon Iver impression for an entire album.
Losing was great, wtf are you talking about.
I mean that is fine if that’s what you believe, obviously I disagree with there being no difference between a male and female. Also the idea that classifying ppl at birth is “denying trans existence” is so far out lefty I can’t even comprehend. But that’s not the argument that she making, she’s using the word gender instead of sex bc she is uncomfortable making the argument you just made about there being no difference, she‘s is intentionally misrepresenting what language the census used to score political points and be a good lefty.
Thats fine if you want to put intersex on there, but don’t act like the question was some completely different question than what was actually asked.
Would love for someone to explain how I’m wrong? Like when did the consensus become that gender and sex are the same thing? And not only did they become the same thing, they became the same thing in such a way that you don’t even acknowledge a different word was used. Like if she thought that sex and gender are the same she should have said that, instead she lied about what word was used and then substituted her word: gender. She should have said “there are only two sexes listed” instead of three or whatever, if that’s what she believes.
Very brave of her to lie about what the census says. Like, it clearly states sex not gender, not sure what the problem is. The census is trying to find out how many people of different sexes exist in America, it’s not hard. You can still be a they/them person and answer male/female on a sex question for ffs.
The census asks what sex you are not gender. As with the Jk Rowling thing, seems like people on the left want to confuse the two because they don’t want to acknowledge that sex is immutable? Very strange to just out and out lie about what the census asks.
80% of number ones this year are from black ppl, they account for like 13% of US, anyone saying there is discrimination in music against black ppl is out of their mind. I will stop posting though, it’s an unwinnable fight.
