I hope this is a sign that the next Lil Yachty album is him going back to making fun and forward thinking rap music again, bc the last two albums/mixtapes have been a chore to listen to and also sound like everything else. The Lil Boat mixtape is still a classic though. ❤️ Bless

It was a good album. I think a few of the songs on it (including this one and Delete Forever and You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around) should be on a hypothetical Grimes “Greatest Hits” record.
But I don’t like it as much as Art Angels, and the degree to which I enjoy it is dampened by of the obnoxious year plus long release cycle and a lot of her statements throughout it.
I didn’t get involved in the discussion when it was released bc I just wanted a break from the discourse around her.
But this song is definitely great.
I’m hoping with this break from her label she can do what she wants with releases and maybe I’ll be in a better place to receive the next release from her. Idk though what I’m even trying to say. Complicated and contradictory feelings I guess.

Upon first impression this and pink lightning have way more life than anything from another eternity although I owe that one a relisten now that we are several years out.
Never would have predicted they’d come back to their roots after the mainstream ploy of their second album. Interesting compared to CHVRCHES who made a similarly amazing and groundbreaking debut, and stuck to their guns on their second album just to basically sell out on the third album.

I’m not feeling the whole album. But it has a few really good songs on it, the best definitely being “Lose You To Love Me.” She doesn’t have the range of some of the other pop girls, but as this song shows she knows how to work within hers very well. I feel like especially that chorus breaks some of the rules for what’s considered good pop songwriting, but I honestly think that’s to the songs benefit. It was definitely one of the best mainstream pop songs last year. ❤️ Bless
