The real reason nobody cares about DIIV is Cole's insufferable self-regard. Even if certain things have changed since they were really hyped, his personality poisoned the well. Also their most well-known music was always boring and whether they've progressed or not, that once-trendy sound is dead as a doornail in 2019
Man, what a song. Impressive and bold cover
The Unnatural World is fine but I think most would agree that Deathconsciousness is the important one, both qualitatively and in terms of the band's longstanding cult appeal
At the very least, calling someone from this background an “insurgent” feels comically disingenuous
awesome. hope she covers Mr. Brightside next
This song is fantastic
Sounds a lot like Bay of Pigs
Better than UFOF. Great album
The Tom Waits stuff is mildly amusing but the alternate mix and sequencing of the Don't Tell A Soul material is just amazing. Real shame the songs weren't released like this originally.
I WILL LOVE THIS ALBUM FOREVER
I’m something of an MCR apologist, but I don’t think Bowie could have conceivably written lyrics like this... not to say that all of his are gems, but none are overbearing and bathetic in precisely this way.
this band name trips me up every time I read it
I was at this one. Built to Spill's three-piece live lineup is really disappointing. Great show otherwise.
one of the best ever. great review
Didn't expect this from them but it's nice to see. Also a good deep cut song choice.
10,000 Maniacs did a great version of "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" back in the 90s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlU2ATmfy0Q
I'm of the opinion that the "Whiteout Conditions" title track is one of their very best songs. This one, it's decent

I know one band with an anniversary to celebrate that might be interested in playing
Surprised to see the "Cowboy Overflow of the Heart" demo mentioned here rather than the more recent official Avalanches/Berman release that came from that collaboration, "Saturday Night Inside Out"
this feels like a psyop
Epic album, still one of the greatest of the 90s and all time
Taylor is revealing herself to be like normie Grimes this year and I'm here for the trainwreck ahead
Wilco is much more chill than LCD Soundsystem and Bon Iver, so this definitely stands a better chance
