Very awesome. I am definitely looking for that 7" This reminds me of a tape that I had as a kid, but I can NOT for the life of me remember the artist. This will do. It's great.
I am more and more awe struck with each thing that Weezer does. I used to think, and HOPE that it was all one big ironic gesture. But Weezer has become what they used to seem to be against. Please, someone, make them stop.
I have been going batshit crazy about this news for the past several hours and I just stopped cumming long enough to post this.
I now have a reason to live.
This is pretty amazing. Just saw Owen at the Pitchfork festival and he played mostly new songs which made me excited for the new album.
This performance here though was just epic.
I disagree. Everyone is SY is great. They are not snobs at all. When I have talked with Thurston he was the most friendly and down to Earth guy I have come in contact with.
Perhaps people are scared by intelligence in their musicians, and they think they are being snobbish when in fact they are just well-read and well-articulate.
It's good to see Brooklyn own it at Bonnaroo, if even for one day.
I think Phish's earlier recordings show what great composer/arrangers they really are, things started to get lost and diluted more and more once you are this side of "A Picture of Nectar".
Kim Gordon has nothing to worry about. Sonic Youth are gods, and have been around forever, influenced so many and all that, but marketing has never really been SY's strong suit. Radiohead is also on their way to becoming gods, but in a completely separate world than that of SY.
Also, Ibold: fuck yes!
The harmony and melody of both songs is so generic, how could Satriani possibly think that Coldplay is plagiarizing him? Honestly. It's doing a great for his publicity though.
There is just no energy in this song at all. I understand that it is a downtempo track, but they are playing and singing like they just downed horse tranquilizers.
This is not surprising but infuriating none the less. I think it is great that by doing this he is just highlighting the fact that it's all about money and not creating art. This book is another way of filching money from his loyal fans.
Being civic minded and getting into politics is a whole lot better than forming a band with 2 good albums and then continuing to churn out phony arena rock shit for frat-boys to dance to.
This is pretty much unforgivable, and career suicide. I'm supposed to be seeing them in July, I'm sure this is exactly what people are going to be expecting now. I know I will. This is more exciting than the music, which sucks.
I have loved Pearl Jam since Ten first came out. I honestly think their last great album was Yeild, and No Code is pure genius. This song is not that great, though it sounds as if they are getting better. The Avocado album was damn near a total waste.
Won't the record companies ever learn that by telling us that we can't have it we are all going to go out and get it by any means possible now, thus making their fight impossible. By them trying to fight the copyright angle it only amplifies their problem about 200 fold, whereas if it was just ignored sure there would be copyright infringement but not as widespread. It's all about money with them though and if they can make some, at any cost (even if it means furthering the infringement) they are going to do it.
I don't know what I was expecting here, but this video and this music is just absolutely useless. The lyrics are crap, the "music" is crap with way too much use of auto-tune (any use is too much), the video is just trying to use sex to draw away from the fact that some sort of sad attempt at music making is occurring. This is just complete garbage.
I think Owen is quickly reaching the point where he can do nothing wrong and is on his way (if he's not there already) to becoming indie music royalty. I'm sure this album will be great. Why shouldn't we think so, everything else he has done has been fantastic. I'm looking forward to it.
