I guess I am that dick! I say we slag the Beatles at every chance just to take them down a notch and maintain some balance. It's like they're FINE, but ENOUGH already. There's no reason they should be popping up as frequently they do decades later.
Funny thing is, I don't know that Spotify itself actually does much promoting of him. It seems it's all the outside voices that keep him in the news. I use paid Spotify and never come across him. Or maybe he's pushed more on the free plan with ads. Either way his foes are contributing to a Streisand effect.
Headline: Barry Manilow stands in solidarity with Joe Rogan
And Tidal offers full high resolution streaming. I guess their payment to him hasn't arrived yet.
I think he is basing this by comparing the data in a maximum Spotify 320kbps mp3/ogg vs his uncompressed 24bit/96khz wav audio
Wait until he finds out about some of the books that Amazon sells
No choice but to upvote this mess. If we're talking 60's, Kinks' Arthur, Love's Forever Changes, Zombies' Odyssesy and Oracle, and the Left Banke's There's Gonna Be A Storm are better end to end than any single album the Beatles ever made, but you aren't allowed to say that. Beatles have been beaten into our brains for 60 years and take up way too much oxygen in 2022.
Call me crazy but I think the murderers are the ones most responsible for the murder
Always nice when a "moral stand" just happens to be in your own financial interest.
It's the regal multiplex cinema next block over from Nokia. It's an odd bird in that LA Live complex-- suburban bland, no premium destination feel
I guess it's OK but kind of a weird theater with some huge screens and some tiny ones that are spread out over 3 floors with long walks to get to them. Not the best sound/projection. The location is a bit of a pain with expensive parking.
These criticisms and complaints from a decade ago seem all so quaint. Positively mild stuff compared to today's rhetoric that is ratcheted up to a constant fever pitch. Everything is either the best or worst thing ever. Social media inflicted a logarithmic growth of partisan praise and hate since 2012. Would love to go back to those simpler days.
Another one! (DJ Khaled voice) These 3 dudes in a room are just too good to not make something good to great. I like to imagine what Colin would do with Thom's bass line here. Unfortunately they picked about the worst theater in LA to show the live stream (DTLA Live)
The last one! I am not a fan of this bro but don't like the whole mob movement against him more.
I know the one, I was curious if this commenter did since they are demanding censorship. But seeing as how you like doctors, you must know the guest of this episode was Dr. Peter McCullough. Look him up sometime. Also this open letter is 270 people, which I guess is technically "hundreds", of which 84 are actual doctors.
Which Joe Rogaine episodes should be removed?
How dare you ask for specifics, there's no time for details. Just grab your pitchfork and torch and join us.
It's just easier if they decide for you and tell you what to think
He's a hero and a legend but this is all so stupid. There are a million reasons to get off Spotify but this ain't it. It's the same mentality as when people went after radio stations for broadcasting Howard Stern for being indecent. His latest letter (an OPEN LETTER, Johnny Marr) just keeps hammering the same non specific generalities like it was written by an A.I. bot. Feels like someone put him up to it. But a good excuse to dust of some NY vinyl nonetheless.
The fest is not necessarily doing anything wrong per se, based on their business model. But all these smaller, lesser known bands are largely wasting time and money playing there in hopes that it may help advance their careers.
Remember when she had a kid with that billionaire? Good times
Can't want for Morrissey's response to Johnny Marr's response to Morrissey's open letter. You know he has some choice leftover lines he didn't use on the first go.
Remember when SXSW actually broke unknown bands and directly propelled them into their careers? (Me neither)
I hate when mom and dad fight, but damn, that's a mic drop walkoff. You just don't want to get into a words battle with this guy, every line tossed back at you will be a eminently quotable bullseye.
Serviceable at best. I fear it's going to be diminishing returns from here on out with them. We'll always have the early stuff, particularly the debut album--an instant classic, every track.
These are 2 major narcissists no doubt, but let's not assume a writer's motivations are always pure. He and the LA Times are surely thrilled with how this all played out for all the traffic.
Sad to see Aaron Dessner diminish his role as merely "pressing record" when he has writing credit on 13/17 songs on their album. Those contracts must have some pretty scary language. https://twitter.com/aaron_dessner/status/1485758000098914311
Yes, we need a Thought Police to decide what people can and cannot even hear--great idea.
We should bring back those navy ships and field tent hospitals to handle the surge. Remember those? Before vaxx? Good times.
Yeah, you've gone off on the deep end of partisan scientism if this is how you frame what you observe.
I'm referring to the character in his user avatar, genius. That's Columbo. Classic detective TV show, check it out sometime.
If you honestly thinking he frames his criticisms on public health measures as "Nazi Germany" then this is where we part ways on attempting a rational discussion. If you have a problem with him personally, there are 15,000+ similarly minded international actual doctors who have signed the Great Barrington Declaration (https://gbdeclaration.org/) that you can attempt to refute. Unlike this open letter of 270 "experts" to Spotify of which only 80 are actual doctors.
If you are honestly calling Dr. Prasad an edgelord and self centered, that shows you are either not really familiar with him or completely misunderstand things. I'm sure Columbo would see his evidence impartially and come to a different conclusion.
