Each comment both exists on its own and as a continuation of a dialog. I think this specific point here from 09/9/20 8:09 PM is a fairly uncontroversial and widely held opinion.

You make it sound like this is all she is known for. She's hardly "spewing". A divine belief in the infallibility of science doesn't make it so. Everything is percentages and odds. Your beliefs may get some other random poor bastard killed.

Also, good advice. Of course I'm being facetious. But people who both wear masks because they crave credit for being "considerate" while also being irrationally fearful deserve no praise.

I don't know if I need new 2020 music from a mid-forties M.I.A. but she has a lifetime pass for her early releases that really changed the game.

Using science in a dogmatic way as if it is religion - on both sides of issues - is one of the many things currently ruining our planet.

That list of collabs is just insane. (The only way I'd even bother listen to Elton today is in a song by Damon.) This Fat Bob track is nice if a bit lowkey following the run of pure fire singles from Song Machine. But what ever happened to that Tame Impala collab that was teased a while back...?

Perhaps, but they're just sort of ordinary. Who even knows what Muna sings about, off hand? You could pull a Lana lyric out of a stack of dozens of lyrics and know it's hers thematically.

Well, right, but she's mocking Lana and her clumsy wordy titles. The plantation one in particular is hinting at something ugly.

This clown = Greta = Divisive voices preaching to their own fanbases, changing zero new minds. P.S. - can we stop with the "stays" in place of "continues". I know language doesn't mean anything anymore and we're just making shit up, but this one really bugs.

September 3, 2020 on ANOHNI – “R.N.C. 2020″
When I see pieces like this - a fringe media personality whose fanbase is so obviously at one extreme end of the political spectrum - giving an obvious negative take on the latest divisive event - I often wonder for who exactly is their message. Is there a single person alive that cares what this person thinks (or who even knows who they are) that does not already feel this way about the RNC? The very definition of preaching to the choir. This does not add a single new vote to the Biden column.

Is this a thing now? Coming at her for her lyrics? Almost no one has good lyrics. At least LDR has a consistent character voice even when she misses. Muna is so bland and generic you couldn't even parody them if you tried.

They're a band in the same way Shins are a band. Everybody knows who's the main brain of the outfit.

This is not far off from my own history with him/them. I always give E a chance when he puts out something new but he has never been as interesting since the turn of the millennium. They make up for it somewhat with a kick ass live show when it is his full electric band.

I guess this is where we differ. I think he should have told this journalist to go fuck themselves and look closer at the world of 1986 and his track record of a 40+ year musical career.

Would you be fine if it turned out this came from Fox News journalist? DB is a well known liberal, with a film directed by Spike Lee coming out. Consider the source, is I guess what I am getting at.

So does the journalist start with the knowledge of this clip or start with Byrne and then research his history? I just want to understand the mechanics of these things. Does every interview, of everyone, forever going forward, now have to address these situations, if they exist?

How dare you criticize Byrne! But also, don't dare to criticize the "journalist" who brought this to light. So basically, critiquing anything in this story is wrong.

September 1, 2020 on David Byrne Apologizes For Wearing Blackface In Stop Making Sense Promo Video
Under what context would this old clip come up organically? If a journalist brought it up to him today, how is it not an attempted "gotcha" on Byrne?

Yes, I ask questions to which you do not know the answers, sorry! If you aren't interested in knowing who the journalist was in this case, that's fine. Some of us may want to know a little about the agendas of writers we read.

Sure, it's not that it took any detective work. But it would be good to know what journalist is playing holier than thou with Byrne.

Who is the journalist that brought this up? (So we can mock them for digging this 36 year old clip up.)

I think you are right about the tatt. The "K" is most likely more about the synergy of K's in both Kid and Kurt more than being a huge K records fan.

As decent as this is, I just can't buy Tim as an earnest singer songwriter. It's a sort of complement really, his comedic voice for 15+ years is so extreme and unique, it's hard to unsee it.

Another hit. This might be their best record since their debut. If you haven't caught it, Guy has been doing breakdowns of his production on Twitch which has been brilliant. He's personable and humble and not afraid to give away any secrets.

Nice to hear these songs in these forms. The Slow Rush has become a true grower. These songs carry a little extra feeling as Tame at the Forum was our last big pre-Covid show here on March 11. Good one to go out on before the break. So glad they didn't cancel.
