while watching this video my eyes rolled all the way back into my head and they are now refusing to come back and i am afraid i will never see again
thanks a lot chris chu
i'm about halfway through and i like this so far
it fills the summery girl-rock void that i've had since the new best coast album turned out to be so underwhelming
it's not necessarily that they care about what pitchfork thinks, but that it's important to pay attention to it because what pitchfork says can have a pretty large impact in terms of reception, unfortunately.
as dumb as pitchfork may seem sometimes, their opinions about music still matter because a significant amount of people read pitchfork regularly and nothing else.
i'm pretty much the same
i've never really been able to get into st. vincent, and i wasn't really expecting much out of this
but i thought both songs were really great
i had a chance to listen to grot some more times today, and it only confirmed for me that it is Awesooooome with a capitol A and several o's
it might be my favorite track to come out of this record store day
i'm super excited to see what she puts out next,
whenever that may be
I have to admit I was a bit hesitant to listen to this at first, but this is actually a whooole lot better than I expected it to be.
as soon as I heard this song and the one after it with bon iver I was pretty excited to hear the whole thing
hearing justin vernon belt out, "buuurnninng all ooour fleeesh ooooooff" is a pretty good indicator that the rest of the album's going to be awesome
...actually i have
i promised a friend i'd go a while back
i hadn't heard them before, so i decided to look them up right before i went
and as soon as i heard the sweet sounds of the "Skeet Skeet" sample on itunes i had a pretty good idea of what i was in for
they spent about an hour setting up
during which time i was praying that some unforeseen event would render them unable to play anything ever again
they came on stage,
and within one minute of their first song, they blew out their entire PA system and the rest of the show basically sounded like they were playing songs out of an iphone speaker
in short,
i learned that god answers prayers about brokencyde.
sometimes i feel like you're making sense
and you're just about to say something really meaningful
and it gets to the point where i'm almost rooting for you
and then you just veer completely off topic and end up talking about sponging your pants
so close, donny. so close.
I actually think it leaked like this past friday or saturday.
What I've found is that it really cements the fact that they're pretty great songwriters, even though they didn't really try for any big changes this time around.
I'm not sure if "Teen Dream II" is exactly accurate, though.
Unlike Teen Dream, Bloom doesn't really have a lot of catchy 'hits' so to speak (like Walk in the Park, Lover of Mine, etc.). Instead, all the songs seem to blend together in a really beautiful way.
But I guess my opinion's pretty premature too, anyway.
And I, for one, have literally no idea what goes on with the Grammys. So there's a chance you could be right about that.
I kind of have the impression that every year they pick the name of a relatively unknown band out of a hat and feel obligated to give them at least one award.
One day, they'll pick Sunn O))) or something and they'll be really screwed.
IMAGINE THE TWEETS
