I am a huge KV fan but there is something about this that leaves you wanting. Just does not come across very well live. His voice is mixed too much up front or something. Is it just me?
Atrociously bad. Please stop this Rivers.
This is a perfect song for this week! That piano and guitar solo are spot on. Whoever said it reminds me of JG is also right. Bring on the jams!
Our country is in big time trouble. Hatred, judgment, and outrage at anyone unlike us will destroy us and this nation. Social media and outside-looking in judgment and shaming is fostering more and more hatred. Self-preserving pride and a complete lack of self-realization that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". "Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.' " - 1 Peter 5:5 Only a pure and selfless humility can turn things around. One Day IT will come.
Sorry but dental hygiene in the UK is way scarier.
It is kind of his "schtick".
Love the "Rolling With The Flow" cover. Charlie Rich.
So guess that means no PME for "Bottle It In"?
Who is that lady playing on the piano? I'm liking how it got to my ears.
So much Grateful Dead in this song. Can't wait to hear the entire LP.
Really hyped for Phosphorescent and Adrianne Lenker. And next week....KV!!!
Seem like Bradley may have also talked to Bad Blake.
Here's a good place to start: https://youtu.be/E9SNpWFU4_w
None better than J Train imho.
Thanks for writing this article Chris. Was just playing my three kids some DC Talk last week ("Heavenbound")....and they were not to excited, instead opting to go back the much over-played Rend Collective, and Toby Mac. Needless to say, the history of "Christian" music is certainly a very interesting one. As you alluded to, I have also avoided Lauren Daigle in the past (aside from my wife's prodding), instead opting to listen to more "Indie" oriented Christian artists such as Josh Garrels, John Mark McMillan, and Beautiful Eulogy. I get annoyed by the cookie cutter mentality of CCM. I would much rather listen to someone authentic who like me, is very real about the struggles even though they are Christians.
At least his last album cover was better... https://direct.rhapsody.com/imageserver/images/Alb.180041335/600x600.jpg
Saintseneca all the way for me. Thanks but no thanks to Troye.
Vastly underrated but a bit flat.
Now you may be on the song too.
Tread lightly or you just may make it on his next song.
Hard to believe that "Vide Noir" was flat out ignored by P4K. That is criminal. Top 5 AOTY.
He should do his own album of Grateful Dead covers. This was far and away my favorite song on the Day of the Dead album.
"In recent months, I don’t think I’ve heard an album as downright pleasant and comforting as this one." --- This is exactly what I need right now amid the craziness of life of my mid-40's! Takes me back to my jam band roots. Just get me out of my own head space for a bit.
Now, Now is all I am listening to right now.
But I will say that "Just Dumb Enough To Try" sounds very cool.
It would be in poor taste since nothing official yet.
To me, it's all about the vastly underrated Lord Huron this week. And it appears I'm gonna have to wait until Friday to hear it all.
Well this is a nice jam!
Cannot wait to hear "Vide Noir" in its entirety. These guys are way too good to ignore...and yet P4K didn't even review "Strange Tails" in 2015. I go back to this album all the time as the flow is outstanding. Like your friend, I can let some LH play on Spotify all day at my desk.
Been listening to it for a few weeks now....Clear AOTY candidate.
Remember Go West Young Man very well. My first concert my parents took me to was DC Talk opening for Degarmo & Key. Was a whole new world...."Spinnin' Round". But I cannot forget also going to the church lead program outlining all the evils of rock music. ACDC ("Antichrist Devil's Children) or WASP (We are Satan's people). They fed us a lie that only backfired and made us want to know more about music. But as a believer, i know one thing...Legalism always pushes people away from the real truth.
This guy is criminally underrated. C'mon now people...what do you think?? Is this too Indie for us in 2017?
Not sure about this but I do know that I cannot stop listening to Cut Copy's Haiku From Zero. It is a classic.
Excellent piece. Think you have captured the essence of what makes TWOD so amazing and yet unique better than any before. Also...Wagonwheel Blues is basically a Kurt Vile album with Granduciel on vocals.
I heard the first 10 seconds of A-Punk so many times last year when taking my 12 year old daughter to school. She now hates Vampire Weekend as result.
Agree! Started to hit play on Spotify, heard one second and hit stop. Had to stop. Got the vinyl arriving on 8/25 too. Not giving in, not giving in, not giving in... Ok, I gave in. Damn!
