Surprise album drops are the best! Brings me back to when Radiohead released TKOL, a day before my wedding (best week ever!). As much as i have loved the handful of singles released in anticipation of Currents, i've sat with them for weeks, months(?), and it's taking a bit of the luster out of the album release today for me. Here's hoping we move to more and more surprise album releases going forward
Too much partying like it's his birthday. #BacardiAintFree
Homeboy's giving Bob Pollard a run for his money with all the new music lately!
Brings back great memories of that weekend. If you have a chance, go to Solid Sound... money well spent, so much to do and see!
Trim 3 tracks off of Brothers (for me it'd be Ten Cent Pistol, Black Mud & maybe I'm Not the One) and you're looking at clearly their best album & arguably one of the better albums of the past decade
Haven't heard them perform Everlong that passionately in ages, super cool !
Maybe i'll Get Lucky and find one under the Christmas tree this year... :/
...or at least his own column! I'd pay to read that. Rolling Stone would be smart to offer him one, at the very least to try to save a dying medium. Of course that's assuming he'd agree to take that on, a big assumption!
Top 3 Rock and Roll interviewees: 1. Noel Gallagher 2. Ryan Adams 3. Billy Corgan
I actually had that shirt on yesterday when I saw this article, no joke! I damn near threw my phone across the room - freaky deaky!
"Sixty percent of the time it refreshes every time..."
I'm sure it was an honor to be considered for a role in such a major show... but, sheezus!
Used to dig this band during their peak, even kept following them for a few more albums. My tastes have changed considerably since then (high school). It's funny, when i'm feeling nostalgic i still enjoy listening to some of my favorite albums from that period (such as REM's Monster, hell even some Sublime or Everclear), but i just cannot get myself to revisit Live... and I think alot of that has to do with reading too much into the stories surrounding their breakup. Ed came off as a greedy jerk
folkin' A, what an album!
Rag and Bone... anyone? That song rips, and to me it's the quintessential Stripes song, has all the elements you want/need.
I know they technically weren't SP, but I always considered Zwan in the mix with the Pumpkins albums. But then what would you do about Billy's solo album (and James and Jimmy's solo joints, i guess), so I get it. That being said, If i was throwing it into the ranking, i'd put it in one spot ahead of Oceania.
what, no "Foxymophandlemama?!"
How about some love for July Jones!?
Thought he was gonna slip into some GNR "Get in the Ring" at ~3:30 of part 6!
"Here I Dreamnt I Was an Architect" & "January Hymn" are pretty baller too..
This song gives me triangle smile : >
I remember being kinda disappointed by Rush of Blood when it came out, but revisiting that album today... man, those last two tracks are phenomenal
Maybe I just dig their moodier slow jams more, but "Zero Chance," "Limo Wreck," and "Boot Camp" would all be on my list. I agree with what was said about King Animal... but "Attrition" gets my tailfeather shakin' !
Not too jazzed about this one as a stand-alone track, but curious to see how it'll fit in with the rest of Hesitation Marks
Great list. Almost twenty years in and still putting out solid albums. It's so common to get diminished returns over time from "established" artists, but the Foo's have been remarkably consistent over their career. "White Limo" still makes me want to punch the sky every time I hear it!
Can't stop laughing, this comment just made my day!
woah, not much love for TKOL and Rainbows... too bad, they're both gems. Pablo would be a great album that most other bands would kill for in their catalog, but it just does not hold up with the rest of these giants.
"here we are now, entertain us..."
