They had four SINGLES. One hit.
I've gotten my hopes up so many times before but this time I'm sure: AOTY 2014. Believe.
Same here. I think Toy Guns has the potential to be a big summertime hit (that chorus rhythm switch-up) if it were to be given a marketing push.
Hmm... Pitchfork has it as "Gust of Wind (feat. Daft Punk)". Who is right???
is there a conor oberst cameo in this?
Can't believe I'm the first to even mention them... new TWIN SISTER album next year almost assuredly. I guess so many years between the first album and the second will kill the hype but they're still killing it IMO.
yes, it is right next door to the much-superior Glasslands. bummer when a place closes but honestly 285 wasn't all that great. it was nice that Ric put his personal phone number in their emails so you can text him during a summer show and ask to turn the fucking A/C on tho.
He's a bit of a trend opportunist but I'll admit that I was really into that first Lightspeed Champion album (though I'd probably find it unlistenable today).
Absolutely not.
I really like TPK, personally. Off the top of my head my main criticisms would be a.) the old dude's monologue is straight up dumb and much too frequent and b.) One for You, One for Me is like a less good version of Easy/Lucky/Free... I hope whatever the final BE album is goes out on a better note than that. "Southern State" is my fav sorta-obscure BE song.
Any details about what their new project actually sounds like? Hard to tell from looking at pictures.
loving the pitch shifted vocals (seemingly) all over this album.
i'm finding this album really enjoyable -- didn't expect to care about a new Bowie album. reminds me of latter-day Morrissey in a way... just better.
The best part of wakin' up(tm) this morning was reading this acerbic post.
Haven't finished this yet but the 3rd paragraph does make me wonder why Thom hasn't released a solo album called Thomfoolery yet. Think of the album art possibilities (maybe that infamous photobomb?).
"my best friend's a butcher and he's on my dick" "stella was a diver and she was always on my dick" etc.
I was hoping this would be about Kittie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kittie
But, like, don't you think if he had access to that "family money" he'd be using it? He hardly lives like the Rich Kids of Instragram, right?
"band makes another music video" is hardly worth discussing.
Ah, the classic "fun jobs don't NEED compensation" line.
controversial(?) opinion: Stay Loose is the best closing track on any B&S release.
Gonna be a real crime if the song (formerly?) known as "A Golden Key" isn't on this album...
Yo dawg remember when he was commissioned by Nike to write 45:33 almost 6 years ago?
Profound! So disliking Lana's performance means I'm NOT a shitty misogynist and/or hetero-normative bully? Think I'm OK with that!
I think we should look into the authenticity of anyone who claims to be a "big fan" of Lana.
god how fake can this fake person get.
Stosuy's agenda is pretty clear with that list: not enough brutal drop-D riffage on The Suburbs for his taste. isn't it enough that with his heavy brow and high forehead Win looks like he COULD be in a black metal band?!?
jesus, maybe you guys should do Double Take: Stereogum's Readership. the knee-jerk defensiveness of some of these comments is adorable but really misguided. is it wrong to turn a critical eye upon the most recent album by an indie rock heavyweight? don't tell me that CONTRA isn't the 10 out of 10 slice of indie rock perfection I've been led to believe it is too! hey Stosuy, WAT R UR CREDENTIALS??!
I'm on Paul's side, though I have no opinion on CocoRosie's music. And really, Jamie? A juvenile potshot at VW? I love your music but you sound like such a little bitch. After reading these condescending and self-righteous essays I have no interest in listening to CocoRosie. And congrats Stereogum, this post actually got me to sign up for your redesigned site. Keep doing posts like this -- even if I think these people are full of shit it at least creates some dialogue worth getting involved in.
