Prince Rama as Rage Peace

As the story goes… This band Rage Peace was huge on the eve of the apocalypse. They made a sort of incantory, tribal music with a cosmic boogie feel, which you can hear throughout their celebrated Top 10 hit “So Destroyed.” Since the world has withered and burned, Brooklyn-based shaman-pop troupe Prince Rama has taken it upon themselves to channel them, and the other nine bands that had Top 10 hits at the world’s end, on Top 10 Hits Of The End Of The World, because as sonic archivists with an understanding of social and spiritual evolution, they understand that in times of rebirth it is important that we cultivate our aesthetic, as much as our genetic, links with the past.

I dunno, I’m charmed by this new concept album that Prince Rama is about to release — full details here — so pardon the indulgence up there.

That photo above is Prince Rama channelling Rage Peace on this forthcoming, Tim Koh-recorded, Scott Coburn-mixed, Paw Tracks-released LP, and this MP3 below is quite the same. Good song from a heady concept, here:

Top 10 Hits Of The End Of The World is out 11/6 via Paw Tracks. Prince Rama’s hosting a single-release party tonight at Bushwick’s cosmiche-synth music-fixated Body Actualized yoga center, which may as well have been built for this band. Lots of aesthetic/pranic synergy going down there tonight: 143 Troutman St., Brooklyn, NY.

If that is too far, or too soon, there are more opportunities to catch them in the States:

8/11- Hudson, NY (Basilica Music Festival)

  1. I can’t speak for Rage Peace (yet), but Prince Rama’s live show is highly engaging. That show with Gang Gang Dance would be incredible. Can’t wait for this album.
