Last week, we posted “Don’t Tell Me,” a hazed-out new indie-pop song from Brooklyn resident Lorely Rodriguez, who is just now starting to release music as Empress Of. “Don’t Tell Me” happens to be the B-side of the first-ever Empress Of single, and its A-side, the lilting “Champagne,” now has a video. Director Samuel Morris Hamad shoots some intensely extreme close-ups on a girl’s face as it devours a watermelon, turning that viewing experience into something psychedelic by going in with split-screen effects and brain-wrecking strobe-edits. Watch it below.

The limited “Champagne” b/w “Don’t Tell Me” 7″ is out now on No Recordings.
Though many New York neighborhoods have gotten back on their feet, more devastated areas like Red Hook, the Far Rockaways and Staten Island still direly need emergency relief and support. WNYC has a comprehensive round-up for ways to help. Also, donating to the Red Cross make an impact and it’s easy. Organizations like the and Occupy Sandy also have ways to donate directly (including this cool Amazon “Wedding Registry.”)
