Eels - "Peach Blossom" Video

Between 2009 and 2010, Mark Oliver Everett’s Eels released a trilogy of full-lengths in rapid succession, but the project has been mostly silent since then. Next year, however, Everett and Eels return with a new LP, Wonderful, Glorious, recorded at Everett’s new studio in Los Feliz, CA, which will be followed by a three-month tour spanning multiple continents. The album’s first single is the fuzzy, melodic “Peach Blossom,” and we’ve got the video for the track. The clip captures the band rocking out in Blues Brothers suits and shades, while Everett is entranced by a tambourine-playing manic pixie dream girl. Check out the video and tour dates below.

  1. Love the Eels, you never know what you’re going to get with them but it’s always good.

  2. nice to see Mr Everett in happy fun mode….dig!

  3. Wow!
    Mark seems happy!
    Where will this end?

  4. I was kind of disappointed with “Tomorrow Morning” (it’s weird to hear E sing about being happy), but this album, sonically, seems to be the perfect middle ground between albums like “Hombre Lobo” and “Tomorrow Morning”. Really can’t wait for the new album.

  5. Well this is refreshing. I was heavy into Eels for awhile but have dropped off recently, looking forward to some fresh feelings.

  6. Man, I just don’t know what to think about eels’ new stuff. E is probably my favorite songwriter; I really think some of his stuff is just genius. But I couldn’t get into Tomorrow Morning (to be fair, I didn’t really give it a chance), and this song seems quite literally no deeper than opening the window to smell the peach blossoms. I realize that not every song a guy writes needs to be as gut-wrenching as “Dead of Winter,” and the girl in this video is adorable as hell, so that’s good. I’m glad E has found a brighter place, too, so more power to him…

    • I totally feel you there. It’s nice to hear some livelier instrumentation and take a break from the doom and gloom, but I fear that he has very little to say here. This feels more like a deep cut than a single, but keeping my fingers crossed.

  7. I really like this track. I don’t think I like the video all that much. :/

  8. M.O.E. forever! nice to see someone finally talk him into trimming that giant transient beard:) i’ll always E and the Eels, pure geeky rock n roll.
