    Hi everyone,

I am officially officially, so very officially done with Stereogum. I am currently contacting the address and requesting my account be removed from the site. After being repeatedly contacted via private e-mail, Tumblr and on Twitter by one of the site’s contributing authors and a fellow professional writer of theirs in a very passive aggressive sense over general commentary no less critical than the opinions you also share here at any given time, I feel that I have no choice but to remove myself from the situation. The dynamic of it makes me feel very uncomfortable and violated, not just as a DIY writer, but as a reader.

I’m sorry and will miss most of you, and I mean that sincerely, but this is too much for me.

    • good idea, i barely ever poke over here anymore, waste of a site mostly.

    • Man, I’m almost about ready to take that plunge. I think your gripes about the direction of the site are pretty well-founded. Apart from Mike Nelly and Clay-Clay, both of whom I greatly enjoy reading from, I’m generally disenchanted with the whole thing. Everything’s being deconstructed and I have no where to live anymore. Controversial editorial pieces are everywhere to rack up page views. There’s pieces about Mumford & Sons and Macklemore and Destiny’s Child and Taylor Swift and that’s just not what I come here for. I’m not saying all those artists are bad because my 11 year-old cousins and all their friends love them, but I can read about radio acts everywhere else if I want to, and MP3 blogs and critique sites like this is where I want to go to get away from all that, if only for a moment.

Anyway, Michael, If you’re sincere this time, I wish you well and hella buffness in the future.

    • there’s always a siren singing your to shipwreck,
steer away from these rocks, we’d be a walking disaster
Just cause you feel it, doesn’t mean it’s there

    • No Michael_!!!!! :((((. As i’ve been reading and apart of the gum the past year and a half or so i’ve really come to appreciate your perspective on everything, you take time and put a lot of care into your writing and present it in a coherent way that is easy to digest. When I read a Michael_ comment, I feel like I additionally have gained insight into the topics you discuss as I read, and you write in a way that does not degrade or talk down to anyone, Michael_, you are a treasure of the gum. I will miss your contributions a ton, but if this is our stereogum good bye then I’ll be following awkward sound on the daily, but i’ll still miss your analytical and critical comments, It wont be the same without you. :(

      - Oblivion von Key-Board Kat III, (2013).

    • Can’t wait to see you again in a week’s time under the new account Michael__.

    • how could the internet be “too much” for anyone?

    • michael_ goes, I go. might have to just end it. been thinking about it for a while and im hammered now so i might end it on the spot no one even read what i write on here anymore without michael_ the sites dead to me lol

      • Don’t do it, man. I come to this site for the music news but I stay (i.e. scroll down) for the trolling/drama between commenters. I don’t own a television so this is the closest I get to reality tv.

    • I HATE it when people I constantly badger for a job turn me down and then block me on twitter. I’M LEAVING TOO Y’ALL!!!!111111

  2. WTF?! This man has been nothing but excuses after excuses. I’m sorry, a month of this drama has convinced me to stop listening to his music cause this is beyond arrogance and a new level of self righteousness.

    • The guy had been in poor health for a while now. Do you just think he’s making it all up or something? He’s given specific names to every condition that’s caused him to cancel/reschedule. I’m not a fan of his music, but I do think he’s been truthful. He’s even been ill onstage. Does he have to collapse on your doorstep to convince you?

      • Im calling bullshit his so-called illness. Hes canceled most of his tours due to the venues not providing a vegan set up. Weather hes been ill or not, it just seems suspicious that he would cancel more tours after 2 recent shows didnt meet his dietary demands.

    • Are you talking about Morrissey or Michael_?

      • Richard is clearly talking about Morrissey. Michael_ is not a musician.

        • there was an news post before Michael_ Bogart’d this comment thread. i think it curious that Moz cancelled the tour after multiple restarts that took place in the East and West coasts. I may be wrong, but it is particularly telling that this tour was cancelled JUST after Moz performed in DC at a venue that allegedly never had a rock performance.

Anyway, motherfuck this self-absorbed, egotistical whiny bitch. and that was directed at Michael_.

        • Downvoting a fact? Michael_ writes a music blog, and Morrissey writes and plays music. If a person references someone who makes music, that’s how you tell Michael_ from Morrissey. If you live in some other version of reality, I’d love to hear about it.

  3. Another Morrissey cancellation and another _Michael departure.

*Old Man River plays gently in the background*

  4. Morrissey? More like Lessissey.

  5. Should have had a v8.
