Tegan-And-Sara-Heartthrob

Superfans might disagree, but as far as I’m concerned, Tegan And Sara’s newest album, Heartthrob, is also their best. And that album’s best song is its third single, the devastating ballad “I Was A Fool,” which sounds like an instant classic, the type of thing that should soundtrack a few million breakups over the next few years and still be prominent in our cultural consciousness three decades from now. Now, Matthew Dear has remixed the song, isolating the twin sisters’ aching vocals, layering them atop an icy, slow-building ambient bassline and beat. It makes their harmonies somehow even more heartbreaking. Listen and download below.

  1. I don’t care for the term, but I probably fit most people’s definition of a superfan. I think Heartthrob is their best album. The loudest voices aren’t always completely representative.
