Yeah Yeah Yeahs on Fallon

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ new one Mosquito has gotten a bit lost in the recent flood of gigantic blockbuster albums, but the album still rules hard. So consider this to be something of a reminder: Last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the band played “Despair,” the life-affirming friendship anthem that probably stands as my favorite Mosquito track. In so doing, the YYYs provided further evidence that they’re one of the great live bands of our era, and though there’s no way in fuck I could ever pull off the outfit that Karen O wore, I would very much like to try someday. Watch the performance below; it is well worth your time.

Mosquito is out now on Interscope.

  1. I wish they still rocked.

  2. Good lord. Few great bands have an ability to write so many terrible songs as the YYYs.

  3. Man. If we could have just stopped at Show Your Bones. What a shame.

  4. I’m pretty sure you’re misreading the lyrics if you think this is a life affirming song about friendship…
