The Flaming Lips - "Gates Of Steel" video

Last week, the Flaming Lips shared their video for “Turning Violent,” a song from their new album The Terror. At that same session, they also recorded a video for their cover of Devo’s Freedom Of Choice oldie “Gates Of Steel,” which turns the original song into an inward-looking psych-rock freakout. The cover doesn’t appear on any of their records or anything; they’ve just shared it to promote their forthcoming tour with Tame Impala. Check out the video and the tour dates below.

  1. Hate it! That song is so much more prolific than glitter on girls and washed out vocals.

  2. Love it! I don’t much care for Devo, but after listening to the original, I think this is a really creative take on this song. The Flaming Lips rule.

  3. Further proof that the Lips might wanna think about retirement. You had a great run fellas.

  4. They sound better with drums doing the right thing. Still a big fan, but not a fan of their last five or so years.

  5. Shame on you! The Flaming Lips have come out with some of their best music in the last 5 or so years
