We’re nearing the release of Grizzly Bear’s Shields Expanded and Shields B-Sides, and now we’ve got more previously unreleased goodness to go along with “Will Calls.” The new song is called “Listen And Wait,” it’s pegged as a bonus track, and it sounds like it could have easily made the cut for the original Shields tracklist had the band found a place for it. This is everything you want in a Grizzly Bear song: An impossibly lush arrangement, intersecting vocal parts that float like feathers, that waking-from-hibernation primordial rumble that unfolds when their songs kick into beast mode. It’s top-notch, and you can listen to it (while you wait for the expanded Shields reissue) below.

Shields Expanded and Shields B-Sides are out 11/12 on Warp.

  1. Let’s see if a “paid commentor” party ensues. In all seriousness, this sounds like a good Rossen song though.

  2. Like it, I’m a sucker for all things Rossen though. It’s very Yellow House-y.

  6. I give up.

  7. Good Track, I think they could have squeezed it on. Or I can think of a sheilds song that it could have replaced…but it would have thrown off the Droste/ Rossen ratio I guess.
