Primavera Lineup

Last week, we speculated that British shoegaze greats Slowdive might be reuniting. Today, we learn they they are indeed back together — more thoughts on that here — and they’re set to play Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival, which is living up to its reputation as perhaps the best-curated big festival in the entire planet. Primavera just announced the lineup for this year’s festival, which comes to Parc del Fòrum 5/28-31, and Slowdive is just a small part of it. Arcade Fire, the National, and Nine Inch Nails will each headline a day of the fest, and the rest of the lineup is absolutely stacked: Queens Of The Stone Age, Kendrick Lamar, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pixies, Disclosure, Volcano Choir, St. Vincent, Caetano Veloso, HAIM, Loop, Chvrches, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Television playing Marquee Moon, Sky Ferreira, Mogwai, Supechunk, Deafheaven, Real Estate, and a ton of others are on the bill. Check here for details. Here’s the full lineup:

  1. whoa, whoa, whoa,

  4. Fantastic lineup.

  6. This is honestly the best line-up of any festival I’ve seen so far…

…and there’s no way in hell I’ll be able to make it to Spain in May. *siiiigh*

    • Depending on which acts you’re eying, your best bet to get a taste of this will be the FYF Fest here in the States. I know the organizer of FYF is close with the organizers at Primavera, which results in an overlap of several of the exciting gets, kind of like My Bloody Valentine last year.

  7. I bought my ticket a month ago. Guess the line-up could have been worse.

  8. They know how to make a line-up. Sheesh.

For anybody on the fence I highly recommend making the trek, even if you’re on the other side of the pond. I think all festivals should start at 6pm and go til 6am. Everybody gets a night set! The time frame actually works in your favor if you’re coming from the Americas. You technically never have to adapt to the time change if you don’t want. Makes rocking out at 4am even easier.

Considering it’s about $1,000 to fly there and back, plus ticket price, plus lodging, plus eats, you got to REALLY be committed. But it’s worth every dime, trust.

  9. This is the best lineup I’ve seen so far this year, and it’s really not even close. Now, where can I find $1,500 for a ticket and flight? Does anyone have $1,500 they want to give me? I will be here, waiting patiently, for your generous gift of $1,500. Thanks a bunch.

    Playing MARQUEE MOON!!!!

    I sure hope this isn’t a one time thing…

  11. You know it’s a kick ass line up when a band like Dum Dum Girls is listed in the smallest type.

  12. I was thinking ‘huh, WARRANT?’ but then I saw it said Warpaint lol.

  13. Wonder how Trent will react when festival organizers cut NIN’s set early in favor of airing a Delta Airlines ad on the videoboard

  14. Good God, there’s even Mick Harvey playing Serge Gainsbourg! This has got to be the best festival line-up since freaking Woodstock

  15. oh my god in your face coachella

  16. Gahhh I’ve been wanting to go to Barcelona for so long, such a beautiful-looking and awesome city (or so I hear).

I just hope Primavera continues to be the best festival on the planet by the time I finally make it there in the somewhat distant future!

  17. I went to Primavera Sound 2013 and I can tell you all without a doubt it’s the best festival I have ever been to. The atmosphere is really relaxed and everyone is so helpful, I felt safe and happy the whole time.
Also, if you’re coming from abroad, why not turn it into a holiday? There are lots of Primavera related concerts and events leading up to the festival itself, and a ton of stuff to do in Barcelona on a budget!
