The Men

In a month, the Brooklyn band the Men will give us their new album Tomorrow’s Hits, the latest step on their journey from scuzzed-up punk to classic-rock majesty. “Pearly Gates,” the first song they shared from the album, was a skronky six-minute rave-up, and “Another Night,” the latest song they’ve shared, is a blaring roadhouse number, its honking horns and pounding pianos never quite obscuring the lo-fi intensity of the band’s playing. The track sounds something like what might’ve happened if G.E. Smith and the SNL house band had gotten really into Sonic Youth back in the day. Listen below.

  1. Not quite the Real McCoy cover I was hoping for, but it’ll do. It’ll do.

Somewhere in Brooklyn, Nude Beach are trashing their new songs.

  2. I love it when bands follow their muse rather than recording the same thing over and over again, but in this case I think I’ll be sticking with The Men’s older material.
