A Young Money crew album is, almost by its very nature, disposable; even Lil Twist and Gudda Gudda seem to know that you don’t necessarily need more Lil Twist and Gudda Gudda verses in your life. But a Young Money crew album is good for at least one thing: For creating a low-pressure safe space for the superstar rappers on the label to actually rap, to embrace their straight-up ripping-shit tendencies rather than attempting to play to the marketplace. The forthcoming compilation Rise Of An Empire has already given us Nicki Minaj’s furious “Lookin Ass Nigga,” and now Nicki has teamed up with label boss Lil Wayne and half-star Tyga to go in on a thoroughly weird beat on the new track “Senile.” Tyga is glaringly inessential, but the other two have a lot of fun, and it’s worth hearing.
