The reunited Afghan Whigs return next month with Do To The Beast, their first new album in 16 years. We posted the video for “Algiers,” the album’s first single, but “The Lottery,” the song they just shared, might be an even stronger example of the Whigs sound at work. It moves from funky Isaac Hayes chicken-scratch guitar to soul-wracked grunge overdrive in a matter of seconds, before making stops in refracted arena-rock sonics and blown-out sexually-frustrated lounge-singer theatrics. Listen to it below.
Do To The Beast is out 4/15 on Sub Pop.
