Califone Magdalene

Califone, ex-Red Red Meat frontman Tim Rutili’s longstanding treasure trove of forlorn, chemical-damaged future folk, will head out on another living room tour soon. To drum up some deserved occasion for the jaunt, the band just released an animated video for “Magdalene,” a highlight from last year’s Stitches. It’s directed and animated by Amanda Bonaiuto and Jessie Stein, and while the imagery is beautiful, the song itself is reason enough to tune in. Imagine what the Band might have sounded like if they’d formed amidst some dystopian society a few decades from now, and you’ll get a sense of how gorgeous this song is. Watch and enjoy below.
