San Diego’s annual Comic-Con International has long been less a comics convention than a celebration of all things nerdy. The movie and TV industries have made it a launchpad for many big announcements, and now the music industry is making the whole “launchpad” concept a little more literally. Billboard reports that MGMT will play a live set and Grimes will do a DJ set aboard the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier adjacent to the convention center, as part of CraveOnline’s Comic-Con party on 7/25. TNT’s new post-apocalyptic naval drama The Last Ship is a sponsor of the event.
Less appealingly, G-Eazy and Linkin Park will play MTV’s Fan Fest on 7/24.
