The British soul singer Jessie Ware is a couple of months away from releasing Tough Love, her sophomore album, but anticipation is high around these parts because the three songs we’ve heard — the title track, “Share It All,” and “Say You Love Me” — are all fucking beautiful. “Say You Love Me,” in particular, is notable because it’s the first time Ware has really departed from her usual soft reserve and swung for the big-pop fences. The London-via-Moscow singer Shura, whose own single “Just Once” is also a recent Stereogum favorite, has taken a crack at remixing “Say You Love Me,” and her version removes all the big-pop signifiers and coats Ware’s voice in sharp, icy electronic atmosphere. The song, and its sentiment, still shine through boldly. Check it out below.
