Nite Fields – “You I Never Knew” (Stereogum Premiere)

Australian post-punks Nite Fields play dreamy music with a jagged edge, which may be the result of jetlag: The band’s upcoming Depersonalisation was recorded in three cities over four years. Lead single “You I Never Knew” surges ahead with shimmering guitars and relentless rhythm section, the bass eventually accelerating into a mesmerizing melodic pogo. Amidst the haze, Danny Venzin’s deadpan baritone tells a tale of alienation and confusion. The resulting bleary jangle makes an excellent first impression. Listen below.

Here’s the Depersonalisation tracklist:

01 “Depersonalised”
02 “Fill The Void”
03 “You I Never Knew”
04 “Come Down”
05 “Pay For Strangers”
06″ “Hell/Happy”
07 “Prescription”
