“Coyotes” is the second song to be shared from Modest Mouse’s Strangers To Ourselves following “Lampshades On Fire.” It’s the Modest Mouse equivalent of a power ballad, and it arrives in the context of a video starring a coyote. Per fan site Interstate 8, “The video is inspired by the true story of a coyote that rode Portland’s MAX light rail train in 2002,” the same incident that inspired Sleater-Kinney’s “Light Rail Coyote.” The site also reports that “Coyotes” will be the B-side of a limited edition “Strangers To Ourselves” 7″ available with vinyl pre-orders and on release day at select retailers.
