Watch Eels Play “A Daisy Through Concrete” From Their Royal Albert Hall Concert Film (Stereogum Premiere)

We saw a lot of grainy fan-made footage of Eels last year thanks to the band’s surprising ongoing partnership with former Journey singer Steve Perry, but from the looks of this preview, the band’s Royal Albert Hall concert film is a truly cinematic piece of work. Recorded last June at the famed London venue, the performance will be released on DVD, triple vinyl, and in various digital formats this April. Mark Oliver Everett described the tour as “a gentlemen’s Eels concert,” and that comes across in the quintet’s formal attire and lush instrumentation as well as the sleek cinematography. But as the swinging, jazzy “A Daisy Through Concrete” demonstrates, underneath the sophisticated trappings it’s still rock ‘n’ roll. Get a glimpse below.
