Sigur Rós Members Releasing 72-Minute Instrumental Inspired By Vaudeville, Circuses, And Carnivals

Sigur Rós bassist Georg Holm, drummer Orri Páll Dýrason, and touring guitarist Kjartan Holm have partnered up with Icelandic composer Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson for a 72-minute instrumental album that was inspired by a century’s worth of archive footage from vaudeville, circuses, and carnivals. The composition is called Circe, and was commissioned by BBC to soundtrack the new documentary The Show Of Shows, which looks at the history surrounding all three. A trailer for the film features some music from the new project — watch below.

Circe will be released on 8/21 via Sigur Rós’ own Krunk. The film won’t air on television until next year, but two screenings are currently scheduled in the UK: one at Barbican Cinema on 7/16 and another at Latitude Festival on 7/17.
