Tom Furse (The Horrors) – “Trans-Universal Express” (Stereogum Premiere)

Tom Furse is best known as one-fifth of the Horrors, but in his spare time he makes music that’s more of the electronic persuasion. Over the past few years, he’s done a number of remixes for different artists, from Fanfarlo to Django Django, and earlier this year he put out a collection of synth instrumentals called The Planets (As Viewed By Satellites). Last week, he released Digs, a compilation of forgotten music culled from the South Library Of Recorded Music — that collection serves as a companion piece to his next project, the Child Of A Shooting Star EP. His adventurous and curatorial senses continue here, as he sweeps up a number of disparate influences into a cohesive whole. The first track he’s sharing from the EP is the bouncy, tropical-sounding “Trans-Universal Express.” Listen below.

Child Of A Shooting Star is out 8/21 via Lo Recordings.
