As previously reported, Yeah Yeah Yeahs leader Karen O recently contributed the new song “I Shall Rise” to the forthcoming video game Rise Of The Tomb Raider. We heard a little bit of it in the trailer for the game, and now the whole thing is up online. It’s a big, triumphant, clanking song that never pushes itself out of its slow, deliberate tempo, and it would sound really great in a Robert Rodriguez movie. Karen O says that it’s her version of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” explaining that the game developers wanted “drama and high-stakes and melodrama.” She gave it to them, and it sounds pretty badass.
