Danish Band To Watch Yung are set to release their debut full length album A Youthful Dream later this week, but today we are streaming the record’s 12 tracks in full. It’s 30 minutes of raucous melodic punk born out of years playing in basements and dive bars, with the band’s interpretation of DIY leaning more toward personal instead of unrefined.
Frontman Mikkel Holm Silkjær took a more methodical approach to A Youthful Dream than with his past work. “I didn’t think a lot about what was going to happen with those earlier songs, I just wanted to create and talk about my life,” he explained in a press release. “This time, it was all about the process.” Despite Silkjær’s increasingly thoughtful songwriting strategy, Yung still conjure that raw, guttural undercurrent that has always coursed through their music, the kind of energy only found in an underground DIY space.
