Neneh Cherry & The Thing – “Dream Baby Dream (Four Tet Remix)” Video (Stereogum Premiere)

In April, Neneh Cherry, a late-’80s avatar of cool whose old records have held up remarkably well, released “Dream Baby Dream,” a gorgeous cover of the Suicide classic that she recorded with the Scandinavian jazz combo the Thing. It’s the first track we heard from The Cherry Thing, their collaborative covers album, which drops tomorrow. Later, Four Tet remixed that cover, giving its spun-out free-jazz histrionics a tense pulse. And today, we get the video for that remix, with Ted Said, the director of Cherry and the Thing’s video for their Madvillain cover “Accordion,” filming Cherry up-close, looking ferocious, while rubber bands and razor blades fly through the air. Watch it below.

The Cherry Thing is out tomorrow on Smalltown Supersound. Stream it here.
