Bay Area space-rock warlocks Wooden Shjips will soon follow up their great 2011 album West with a new album called Back To Land. According to a press release, the new album will move the band toward “more minimalist territories.” If the album-opening title track is anything to go on, that means the new album will have a bit of Lungfish’s mesmerizing circular repetition, though they’ll replace that band’s fearsome apocalyptic streak with an easygoing back-porch almost-blues vibe.
