Network television on Saturday morning: Probably not the first place you’d expect to encounter indie rock. But as we’re continuing to learn, there is no segment of society that indie has not permeated. Case in point: CBS This Morning, the weekend newsmagazine show, has a musical segment called Second Cup Cafe, and now Okkervil River frontman Will Sheff, like Tegan And Sara before him, has taken part. Sheff, playing solo-acoustic, appeared on the show this past weekend, playing a version of his band’s The Silver Gymnasium single “Down Down The Deep River,” as well as the deep cut “Black Nemo.” Watch both performances below.
The Silver Gymansium is out now on ATO.
