In the past year or so, Yours Truly’s Songs From Scratch series has been doing great work teaming up producers and vocalists who work well together and who might never otherwise interact. The great Nashville rapper Starlito has always beautifully combined street-talk slickness with a conversational sort of emotional intimacy. The Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth, a recent Album Of The Week recipient, marries melodic float to busy, turbulent low-end. They’re a great fit for each other, and now Yours Truly has teamed them up to make “Can’t Get Over You,” a gorgeously wounded bit of breakup rap. Listen below.
